Oct 6, 2014 8:17 AM in response to Star Travelerby davidfrommanteca,@Star Traveler - Nice screen name you picked. You are obviously a star traveler because you are totally out of touch with Earth.
Why are my posts disappearing? Whenever I make a reply to stat traveler the post gets deleted. You work for Apple? They pay you for traveling around in space, not having a clue what's happening here on Earth?

Apparently they're tired of whining.

Oct 6, 2014 8:29 AM in response to Philly_Phanby PACETurf,HHas anyone who has posted their problem here tried the Apple Support route and failed to get satisfaction? I recall a number of posts earlier claiming that they had contacted Apple Support and did not have success with the process. Please let us hnow if you did have success and if you can identify the Genius Bar location, that would be great (if it is close, I'll go there), or the Apple Support person who successfully brought your iPad two back to iOS 7 performance levels. Just getting embeded videos to work again would be nice. And, there seems to be some sessions control issue with Safari that I encountered using Safari to manage a website via the website control panel that I had not had in the past - making the iPad no longer useful for remote administration.
LOve the double caps and repeat letters - adds a new dimention to the English language and grammar.

Oct 6, 2014 8:53 AM in response to Star Travelerby davidfrommanteca,@Star Traveler - Oh, I see, you think my posts are "name calling." Excuse me, but if memory serves me correcity, each user picks their own screen name. That would mean YOU picked "Star Traveler," not me. So if you prefer traveling the stars as your screen name indicates, that's up to you. However, most of us are interested in the iPad 2 and iOS 8 here on Earth.
Speaking of the Genious Bar as you did in an earlier post, I thought I was a "Genious" when I gave up on Android tablets and bought an iPad 2. Silly me, I'm not a Genious after all. Actually I think it was a very stupid move. Oh well, live and learn........

Oct 6, 2014 8:57 AM in response to davidfrommantecaby Star Traveler,It's not the "name" that is the problem ... it's the derogatory "definition" that someone wishes to assign to it ... :-) ... which, by the way and again ... is not par for the course, in the Terms of Use. Check them out ... :-) ...

Oct 6, 2014 8:59 AM in response to PACETurfby davidfrommanteca,@PACETurf - My brother is currently on vacation and will be back in about two weeks. He lives very close to an Apple Store. I'm sure he will take his iPad 2 to the Geaniuos Bar when he returns. I will try to remember to post his satisfaction results.

Oct 6, 2014 9:07 AM in response to Philly_Phanby davidfrommanteca,If this character would quit bragging about Apple and also posting about Apple selling the iPad 2, perhaps everyone would quit whining, and help figure out a way to get our iPad 2 running again. :-)

Oct 6, 2014 9:05 AM in response to davidfrommantecaby Star Traveler,Keep in mind that Apple is selling at its online store ... the iPad 2s ... right now as we speak. If you want to see how those iPad 2s actually work with iOS 8 (namely the ones that are shipped out to customers "today" from Apple ... just reset your iPad 2 right back to the factory default setup. And test it out, and you'll see exactly how someone else (who gets their iPad 2 from Apple TODAY) will have their iPad working. Your iPad 2 will work exactly the same way ... in other words, it will work just fine.
But, as always, make sure you do a backup first, before you reset it back to factory default conditions. And also, do not reload your data on it just yet. You're going to see what the "baseline operation" is for an iPad 2 that Apple sells TODAY in its online store!

Oct 6, 2014 9:06 AM in response to jonaosorioby Star Traveler,The first thing is Apple does not support this procedure. And then in the second place, you actually cannot do this as Apple is no longer "signing" the previous iOS (7.1.2).

Oct 6, 2014 9:07 AM in response to PACETurfby P. Aaron,
Thanks for mentioning the fact about embedded videos. I end having to click the link and play them from the You-Tube page. Another annoyance. -
Oct 6, 2014 9:16 AM in response to pacoKASby RCMatty,IOS 8 is like pulling teeth.
It has not given me or anyone I know new features that are wanted or needed.
I use my ipad for work but currently have gone back to pen & paper and wait until I get back to a desktop to fill out invoices & electrical certs.
All aspects from browsing to watching you-tube videos are now not possible on the ipad due to the very very slow loading or running of apps.
They all worked fine on IOS 7 to the point I was looking at buying a second ipad as filling out forms was quick and easy. Not now!!
Apple pull you head out the clouds and just go back to making your software reliable.
(P.S try & employ some genius that don't have large chips on the shoulders !! )

Oct 6, 2014 9:23 AM in response to RCMattyby Star Traveler,If you have something "for Apple" ... you should probably go to the Feedback page (if you're just wanting to give them "feedback". Apple is not here on these forums. They are for "users helping other users" ...
https://www.apple.com/feedback/
If ... on the other hand ... you have a problem you want Apple to fix for you, then I would go to these following links ...

Oct 6, 2014 9:27 AM in response to Star Travelerby davidfrommanteca,@Star Traveler - Why would anyone want to go back to a factory reset to see how their iPad 2's "baseline" operation is with iOS 8? I mean we already know what our iPads were like when they were new with iOS 6. I don't get it........

Oct 6, 2014 9:32 AM in response to davidfrommantecaby Star Traveler,If you're expecting your iPad to work the same way it worked as in iOS 6 ... then I see your problem right away. It won't. As every upgrade comes out, it's always more demanding in its computing power required ... until the time comes when a device can no longer be upgraded to the current version. That point has not come with iPad 2, however ... because (and as I said earlier) ... Apple is selling TODAY ... iPad 2s on their online store site, and Apple allows it to run on iOS 8.0.2. SO ... that's a very clear indicator that it's fully functional, right now, today - as we speak - and that's what a new buyer of this iPad 2 would get from Apple, when Apple ships it out to them.
What I am saying is that you need to see what your iPad 2 is doing - right now today - in the condition that Apple is currently selling to new users, and that Apple will ship out today. THAT does give you a baseline to operate from and to KNOW exactly what you can expect to get (and not expect to get what you did from iOS 6 ... :-) ...)
