Q: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load  very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

If you want to clue Apple in on how to design their iOS ... I would suggest putting in an application, get hired and take charge of the department ... :-) ...

BUT, come to think about it, maybe a competitor would hire you and pay better to put you in charge of their "Apple-killer department" ... LOL ...

The main question is why are we not all seeing this behaviour on our iPad2s. It seems isolated, and despite the fact that the hardware is raging and certainly not as fast as new devices, there is undoubtably an issue for some iPad2 users and hopefully the upcoming update may address that issue for those effected as Apple say it might. Until then, we only have iOS8.1 so although my iPad2 is unaffected Those with issues need to stay patient as Apple will not release the update until they are sure it addresses any issues they are intending to address.

    Cheers

I think you might be forgetting that they released 8.0.0 and then a hasty update to that to address things... then 8.0.1 and now 8.1.   Maybe just maybe they should have held off and not released 8x at all before being sure it would not cause as much distress as it has....   They could release 8.1.1 tomorrow and it would not be too hasty in my opinion, any more than the initial release and updates to updates.

Apple could have held onto iOS 8 for another year, and there would still be revisions and bug fixes. It never happens any other way when you have a major upgrade no matter how long you hold onto it, no matter what device you're talking about and no matter what company you're referring to ... and no matter what update you're talking about in the last 30 years!

My response was not to you. I have not forgotten the rushed release of 8.0.1 because of people screaming. It was shut down and replaced with 8.0.2 almost immediately. I don't see your point. If you are saying that any OS X or iOS or Android or Windows system that requires an update at some stage were a faulty and rushed release?  There are Millions upon millions of people having no issues with most releases. As i say, be patient and if the future update does not cure your issue, then I would think your issue may lay somewhere else and require you to start your own thread giving exact details of your issues.

Everything you described is exactly what I'm experiencing. I hope these issues fixed quickly.  Based on my recent experiences I probably would not buy another iPad.

All the later iPads since iPad2 appear to be handling the upgrade with very few issues.

Then maybe... just maybe, Apple should not have allowed the iPad 2 and mini and iPad3 to upgrade, only the 4 and Air, etc......
OR optionally, they should have allowed those poor people who seem to NOT be handling the upgrade without few issues to downgrade back to what was working fine for them.

    Then tell them

    https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I don't know of anyone having issues with anything other than a few of the iPad2. Where are you reading this?  Apple have never supported downgrading their iOS. Why should they start now? There were more complaints when iOS6 ad iOS7 came out.

No, not at all. The iPad 2 is not there yet, like the first generation model is now. It still has the computing power to run iOS 8, and so it shouldn't have been cut off like the previous model has been. I've already seen a lot of iPad 2 users saying that theirs runs just fine. And then there are others who had initial problems but now have them running okay. And then you have a very small group that hasn't gotten things working satisfactorily for them. Just because there is this small group here like that, does not mean that the greater and larger majority of iPad 2 owners should have been limited.

Whatever it is that affects those few who are left, and it is very likely a variety of things and not just one ... it's probably some obscure things that will be found out shortly and then addressed. So, while it affects those who still have problems ... 100% ... it still leaves the greater and larger majority okay.

Once having gone forward, then turning it back opens up another can of worms. It may be bad enough for those who still have current problems, but Apple doesn't need to open up an ENTIRE NEW FRONT of problems by going backwards. Besides that, Apple has never gone backwards, so I really don't know why some people want to talk about it. You know it's never going to happen, so you're totally wasting your breath on that idea, and all it does (when one encounters a brick wall on an issue like this) is "work yourself up" for no good reason ... :-) ...

In addition to sending feedback to Apple I also followed the information posted by someone to reset my iPad after backing it up to iCloud. Sorry I don't remember who posted the info, but thank you. Here's the link to give feedback https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.

SO far my iPad seems to be working as it should.

and dudes, take your fight outside. name calling and deeming comments are not productve to the discussion. as a new participant it made it difficult, not to mention frustrating, to find useful information in the "he said, she said" type of comments.

Well, it probably wasn't me or you would have remembered, but I've been posting the following links to many others here, who have come back and told me their iPad 2 is working fine now.

I tell them to be sure to do their backup, and to use their iTunes program to reset their iPad to its factory default state, and to test it out without restoring their backup. After verifying, then restore it. Also, I advise to turn off their anti-virus program on their computer during this operation. I also advise people to be aware of what the backup saves and what it doesn't save.
