Q: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load  very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

If Safari would stop crashing, that'd be great.

Are Apple going to sort this abomination out, or do they just not care?

We cannot tell you here as that would only be speculation which is against the terms of use we and yourself all agreed to when coming here.

You can always ring Apple Support in your country and ask them.

I am also having this problem. My ipad2 is almost unusable since the iOS8 update - which I only completed yesterday!

i wish I had seen this thread before I updated, my iPad is ruined now!

    iOS8 vandalised my iPad2!

if this is how apple treat their customers I am never buying an apple device ever again.

    Amido,

Just to warn you: I've tried EVERYTHING on these forums since I downloaded the "update" in September. I've wasted probably 2-3 days in total, even making trips to the Apple Store. The best you'll be able to do is lessen the damage some, but you will not get anywhere near the functionality you had with iOS7.

There are two or three people on this forum that say it's our fault, and defend Apple.

    Get ready for some frustration.

But you fail to mention all those iPad2 owners who have all fixed AND posted their fixes here on this thread as well as others. Sure you can sit back and be an armchair critic because either you cannot bother trying the fixes or simply refuse to as you would rather hope an Apple Fairy drops in and does it for you, or you can try being a little more proactive in your approach to your device. Doesn't bother me either way. I have my iPad2 purring along nicely, but then again I tried a couple of things mentioned here very early on and they solved my issue.

Whatever your issue is, I suggest trying a similar thing.

    Cheers

I've read most of this thread, and tried most of the "fixes" and they have not worked.

i already replied to your earlier comment telling you the steps I have tried.here it is again.

    >I tried turning it off and on again, first (of course). Then I tried a reset, holding sleep/wake and home button until apple logo appeared. Then I tried deleting apps I don't use, and deleting unnecessary photos (I hoped clearing space might improve performance) - no improvement. Then I tried turning off movement and transparency - again no improvement.

Nothing is working, my iPad is ruined. It's horrible to use now.

TThere's another fault... I mean enhancement, double letters.  8.1 is a great product.

That's been discussed here on this forum many times. It's a problem with the forum software. And there are a number of other glitches in the forum software.

AND ... in mentioning this ... it shows how people can EASILY CONFUSE one problem for something else, totally unrelated. If you do tech support, you find that this type of confusion happens all the time.

I'll give you a procedure and a troubleshooting methodology if you're interested. A lot of users here have gotten only part way through this procedure and have solved their problem. Others have had to go a little bit further, and others further still ... but it is a reliable and trustworthy methodology for getting it fixed.

People are saying it's not fixing it though. And what will 8.1.1 fix?

It's also pretty bad with people loosing PDFs, with there being no warning about the possibility. Apple often makes people feel that everything is safe, so they go ahead and update.

I've completely reset my iPad 2, and restored software from a backup as suggested. Going on the Internet still makes me want to scream at the pad. This is on Safari and Chrome, both equally bad - it just freezes while scrolling even on advert free pages like the BBC. But when advert pages do load in, all those Facebook and Twitter links and adverts just freeze it momentarily, and some pages I just give up on. I'm sure it didn't do that on iOS 7.

Perhaps the HTML or JS stuff has been left in Debug mode?!

No, it also does it on other sites.  Anything that requires input, the first characters appear twice so its not just this forum.

It did it in iOS7 as well. In fact it has done it (only on this site) since whoever does Apple's Website changed the design. It has been mentioned hundreds of times. Annoying.? Yes. iOS8 relate? No. And have never seen it on another site. Can you please link us too another site where it also does it?

    Thanks in Advance

Forum software can be used on many different sites. I have used the iPad on different sites and this does not happen with the others that I use, while happening here. And that is a clear indicator of different sites having different software.

This problem was identified here on this forum long BEFORE iOS 8 came out ... :-) ...

I'm interested too in all I can do to revive my ipad(s). Yes IPads as I experienced that my wife's IPad has been broken too! But I didn't notice she experienced the same issues due to a different level of using the iPad. But as she started to complain that facebook was so slow, she uses FB, next to some browsing and iMessage and Wordfeut, I checked whether she experienced the same issues although her IPad is one year younger then mine. And unfortunately this appeared to be so.

So, a real solution would be more then welcome.

The people here on this forum who have talked to me, which are those who have followed my advice, have come back and said it has worked for them. BUT FURTHERMORE, I give a "methodology" that one should follow for "troubleshooting" and it's this methodology which will lead one to a solution, not only "the solution" itself.

It's also pretty bad with people loosing PDFs, with there being no warning about the possibility.

Apple has Apple Support documents explaining all the ins and outs of the backups. It's only a mystery to those who choose not to read up on what they're doing. I always give the Apple Support documents concerning the backups and it's in there.

This is - yet again - another example of people thinking that the "problem" lies in one area, when it lies in a totally different area. In other words some people want to say that Apple doesn't warn them ... when really ... the problem is that some people NEVER BOTHERED READING what Apple said about it ... LOL ...
