I have no idea how you come up with that, as Apple has the highest rated customer service in the industry ... and that's rated by the customers themselves. AND ... I hope you realize that Apple is NOT ON THIS FORUM, because this forum is exclusively "users helping other users" with solutions they can implement themselves on their own iPad.
If you want to have Apple talk with you on your issue ... you need to go where Apple has set it up ...

If you merely want to "tell Apple something" ... then go to this spot that Apple has set up for that ...

Nov 16, 2014 12:09 PM in response to Star Travelerby Maxipeg,Star Traveler, I am sure there are admins monitoring this forum, and they certainly can handle comments that are misplaced. So please, leave it up to them.
So far, I haven't read a single report about a fully satisfactory recovery of an iPad 2 running iOS8. If you can bring forward a few users who will testify that their iPad 2 is running with no problems and at full speed (=like 7.1.1) after the upgrade to iOS8 (or after they went through a recommended troubleshooting process), I will believe that it can be done. You seem to be so sure, there must be at least one single owner of an iPad 2 who you know personally. Until then, I fear that your posts are not very helpful and possibly even misleading.
I have an iPad 3. After a reset to factory defaults, I have installed iOS 8.0 and set it up as a new iPad. Then, I installed just the apps and infomration I really need. Much of it is in a cloud (iCloud, Dropbox, Evernote, Wuala, GoogleDrive...), mirrored on my Mac and backed up (yes, I use TimeMachine, on two separate drives, so far no problems whatsoever and several successful recoveries). I mostly had to reenter some login info. Later, I installed iOS 8.1 directly "over the air".
The good: everything seems to function properly as it should. In particular, I like the interaction between the apps, which has improved a lot. On the downside, there is a noticeable slowdown, for example, launching and switching of apps and browsing the web. Typing text in some webforms can be very annoying (typing in this forum is acceptable but again, there is a noticeable lag).
So, overall I am satisfied because there is stuff I couldn't do before (or not a easily). But I would be extremely thankful if I could recover some of the previous snappines and reactivity, perhaps with the next update. But this may be just whishful thinking. On the other hand, I understand all the users who don't take advantage of the new functionality, and who are just frustrated because their iPad 2 or 3 is much slower now and less reactive (with no way back).

WEll i am not polling here when i state that i would not ever by any of the other apple products until they can demonstrate that they have adopt a better customer care policy.

There are moderators for this forum, and they have the "Report Post" button to alert them to issues, which I've used a bit and have seen the moderators respond to that alert. While the moderators cannot be everywhere at all times, other users "can be" and other users can also call attention to the a Terms of Use. Now ... if someone wishes to ignore the Terms of Use and the moderators haven't seen it, I will answer those who are ignoring it -- "in kind" comparable to their post. AND ... if moderators see that, they will not only delete the original poster, but they'll delete my "in kind post" right along with it. I'll leave it up to the moderators if they want to do that, too.

I've had a lot of people come back and tell me. In the beginning, I copied a couple of them for examples, and I still have them. I also have a couple of others after a few weeks later, too. Aside from those, because so many were being reported as good, I never bothered tracking them, but these that I have should be good enough. I'll look for them and post when I find them.

Nov 16, 2014 1:36 PM in response to Star Travelerby pkurlander,Having gone from unusable to sort of ok is a long way from good. I used to use cut and paste all the time to forward links. Haven't seen that work in weeks. I'm glad my ipad2 is sort of ok, but would like it back to normal.

I understand what you say about yours, but I can assure you that other users on this forum have gotten their iPads running like normal, not simply part-way there. Now, what that means for you ... is that it lets you know that if others are able to do that ... it is technically feasible for you, too.
Another way to state this idea, is that if I just found ONE iPad 2 model that worked perfectly fine on iOS 8.1 ... and then there were 100 other iPad 2 models that were barely working ... THAT one iPad 2, all by itself, would tell me that it's perfectly possible to have those 100 working as good as the ONE ... :-) ...

Nov 16, 2014 2:13 PM in response to Star Travelerby seegeedubya,We're starting to border on the ridiculous. This thread started as a discussion -- among users, to be sure -- of problems many people are having with performance after upgrading to iOS 8. To summarize what I've learned so far, the best solution anyone has found is to wipe the iPad and put it back in "Factory iOS 8" condition running only Apple stock apps. At that point the iPad 2 runs sort of OK.... it is technically running, albeit very slowly (in my own case I'm seeing delays of up to 20-30 seconds simply to switch from portrait to landscape, and app load times are often worse, for instance). Once one starts to add common apps, like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc., performance degrades even farther. Many people on this forum would love to restore iOS 7 on their iPad 2 devices, but that is something Apple will not allow. The bottom line is that even running just the stock Apple apps, the iPad 2 is barely usable in a real world situation.
Does that more or less match what the rest of you have learned?
Now we've reached the point where we're reading about complaints about the direction of the thread? And of posts being deleted for violating TOS? Are you kidding me? If you're offended by the nature of these posts, then perhaps another thread would suit you. There are others that discuss poor performance in iOS 8.
The reality is that there are at least thousands of people who lost functionality in a perfectly fine device. The support team has assured us that there are millions of happy users out there, but from what I'm reading on this thread, nobody has been able to figure out what these users have done to make an iPad 2 usable (in real world scenarios) under iOS 8. How is it that they're happy?
Oh -- and I've learned that there are certain URLs one should use to provide feedback. I hope your experiences with feedback will be better than mine. I found the feedback form to be quite limiting, as they provide only a small space (max of 800 characters) in which you may comment. I assure you, I would love to provide many more words than the 800 max.
And finally, I've no doubt that someone will ultimately decide that my topic is off post, in violation of section A.3.b.12.3.2.333.2(f)(2)(i) of the TOS, or find some other anal retentive reason to be offended. If this post is deleted, I'd be grateful if some of you would try to summarize where we are on this problem from time to time...

This is actually not a discussion forum for different topics even if it has to do with iPad and Apple. It is exclusively a forum where one users posts a description of a problem for purposes of getting a solution from another user, which the original poster can implement on his iPad himself.
To shorten it down for clarity, only two kinds of posts are for this forum ... (1) a user asking for a solution and (2) a user posting a solution ... that's it and that simple.
SO ... that's where it went off the rails ... at "discussion" ... :-) ...

Nov 16, 2014 2:37 PM in response to seegeedubyaby pkurlander,You said that very well. I agree 100%. Resetting a device to factory settings is such a harsh way To resolve a problem. II'm sure many like myself are considered in the fixed column because we were thrilled to be reasonably functional again. Unless someone probes deeper and asks they would discover I'm still not happy with the performance and this experience has left me very disappointed in Apple.

Nov 16, 2014 2:54 PM in response to Star Travelerby seegeedubya,Did you read my post? Do you see the topic? "IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade". I have asked for help regarding extreme slowness in an iPad2 after an iOS8 upgrade. I summarized what I have learned, and I have asked the other users in this community to add anything I'm missing.
Exactly where has this gone off the rails? Other than the threats regarding the TOS?
Perhaps you've had a long day and a beer or a toke would help you relax.
