So much for the problem that was not supposed to exist (oh yeah, perhaps one in one million ;-)
Apple acknowledged the problem existed on some devices in the update info for iOS8.1.1
Where did you get your one in one million stats from?
I do believe that was meant as sarcasm, because a couple users on this forum insisted that there was no problem, that millions of devices were working properly, and it turns out that there was enough of a problem for Apple to release a "fix" for the one person that was having problems.
What 'one person'?
I knew it was sarcasm, this thread is pretty much full of it.

i hope you are not knocking Apple's service. A software release just for me.
That's pretty good service in my book.
Or maybe Peter didn't see it due his view being obstructed by his hood and rather long fringe.

Pete, I assumed since it fixed or made less apparent, a bunch of problems that only I was having, that Apple created the update for just me...
I'm that one person =)
I'll try to follow-up to this post though because I have a LOT of clients who have just been notified with my thoughts on the update. I imagine we'll be hearing from most of them in the next few hours to days.
Let's see what becomes of over 400 open tickets on iOS devices, which all state "since upgrading to 8x... I am hoping we can close a bunch of these out!
Open tickets destroy my statistics for my business. Even though there is nothing we can do about it, they have remained open, and my response time and resolution stats have plummeted!
The 413 open iOS related tickets also represent a large chunk of the total number of tickets opened after the release of 8x here. And more importantly in a month and some change, I've had more tickets opened than for the entire year!
So again, THANK YOU to Apple for resolving the problems that didn't exist. The ones we were told nobody was having by a couple different people in this forum. Over and over again.
I'm absolutely sure that the geniuses are going to be happy too, because they have been swarmed by my customers and employees....

Where did Apple say there were no existing problems? Do you know nothing of the nature of updates? If so, do you ever explain this to your 'clients'?
Well at least you seemed to have solved your issues in someone else's thread.

Nov 19, 2014 1:44 PM in response to pacoKASby JohnMHoyt,I would like to click "I don't have this question anymore" but after upgrading to 8.1.1, I do still have this issue of "IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade".
It's BETTER, I feel it has reached maybe around 90% of the original speed that our 27 iPads had prior to upgrading to 8x now with the installation of 8.1.1.
I have not found it to be locking up and hanging for seconds at a time on any of our devices. The browser is usable again.
Typing has not locked up, especially while deleting text to the point where it hangs for minutes or crashes the app.
I had 413 open tickets at our business which were related to iOS 8x issues, mostly speed and the copy/paste problem as of earlier this afternoon.
I can happily report that after having some of the longest open ticket holders install 8.1.1, that I have closed out quite a few. We're down to 395.
6 of them had already resolved the issue by replacing their devices, but had not told me until I emailed them about the update.
It is my hope that by the end of the week, we will have almost all of them closed out.
I'll post a follow-up once something exciting happens....

My ipad2 is definitely improved too, but I have noticed that Facebook is very slow to open. Have you experienced the same?
I was also wondering if the cases of the missing PDFs is because they were lost with a backup issue or IOS8 got confused with them? I think with the new update I will have to go back and restore a backup where I think they ok and see if they can be read.

Nov 19, 2014 4:32 PM in response to pacoKASby BruceH2013,> Apple should better test the software before delivering.
I realise that this is little comfort to you but my iPad2 works fine - and just as fast as it ever did - under iOS8.

Nov 19, 2014 8:48 PM in response to JohnMHoytby JerryPele,John, I really appreciate your feedback as well. As so many others, I had significant problems after upgrading to 8.x. I've seen improvements after following recommendations in this forum but still running at about 75% of the original performance. The most significant improvement came after factory reset; and clearing the cache helped some as well. Fortunately I didn't lose files; but I can only imagine how painful that is.
Here's my plan, now that 8.1.1 is out, and there's been positive reports:
- Manually back up via iTunes (pictures are already on iCloud, I really don't have any important documents)
- Run Macgo iPhone Cleaner to see if it can clean anything up (I have a theory some of the source of the trouble was not the apps themselves, but files that need to be cleaned up)
- Update and test
I'm glad I'm not in your shoes right now, but hopefully you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel and you will someday look back with a big sigh of relief.
On a side note; I plan on writing a song entitled, Terms of Use. What do you think?
