Q: iPhone 6 Bluetooth issue

I can't pair my iPhone 6 with the audio unit of my 2009 Acura. The unit does not even show up under pairable devices. Called the dealer and was told those head units are not updatable, I.e, the firmwear is fixed. WTH! Does Apple expect me to buy a new car every time I get a new iPhone?

I've restarted my iPhone several times (for other issues). BT streaming and phone still work just fine. FWIW, I do not backup my phone to iCloud.

I had the same problem on my Acura Mdx 13 , I had to go into the Bluetooth settings of the car and delete the older iPhone 5s.

THe problem lies with the fact all of here restore our iphone 6 from the latest iCloud backup and that way our new iphone6 phone name also gets the sameold name as the iPhone 5, and blutooth uses our phone name to connect, it's but natural that how can two device co-exist with the same name.

ANother alternative: Go to iphone 6 Settings-General--About and change the name of your phone it shall work right away. This is the best way if you plan on still using your iPhone 5 in the same household by someone else.

This worked for me this morning, although I've not re-enabled the icloud service, but will try it again later...and feed back

Can't say I'm happy not having 'find my iphone' on as I feel this is a very important feature to have enabled at all times.

Either way Apple need to step up and provide a long term fix.

I've got an iPhone 6 + and I am not able to connect to any of 3 different hands free earpieces. I've tried resetting Network Settings and All Settings to no avail...

Thanks, Mohitnow and Vistec. This did work for me.

For users still struggling here is the background of my issue:

    Phone: iPhone 6 - 64GB

    Car: 2013 Honda CR-V

Issues Observed: Day 1 (Sept. 19) the phone paired and worked fine. On Monday, Sept. 22 I attempted to make several calls which my car hung up after a few seconds, but the calls continued on my handset without issue. Attempts to redirect the call to my car resulted in dead air. I could not hear my caller. They could not hear me.

My first attempts to correct the problem included unpairing from both the phone and the car and then attempting the pairing again. This had strange results. On one attempt once my phone was paired successfully, my car was stuck in call mode. I could not hang up, or access any other audio functionality in the car until I deleted my phone pairing.

I have some thoughts on what might have triggered the issue between Friday and Monday, which might have had to do with some issues I experienced in uploading music and movies to my phone. iTunes seemed to be giving me misinformation on remaining space, which ended up with my resetting my phone and starting over.

Mohitnow's solution appears to have fixed the issue after three tests. We'll see how things go over the next few days.

It wasn't working for me (I have a 2024 Ford Escape and iPhone 6). I updated the iOS 8.0.2 and had my phone forget the Bluetooth for my car (and did the same with thr Bluetooth in my car for my phone). I tried it and it seemed to work for now...I have to see how it lasts through the week now.

    Hope tope this helps!

The new 8.0.2 update DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AT ALL. After you power off and on with the phone, same issue as the 8.0, all 3 of my cars lost Bluetooth connection and shows no signal at all.  Good job Apple, what a lousy update you guys did.

I too had a devil of a time with bluetooth.  I have a speaker, and it took several tries before it saw the speaker and was able to pair.  I have a Volvo s80 and the car will not see the phone.  I deleted all phones from its memory, yet the phone will not see the car when i put the car in discoverable mode.  I have reset the network settings, rebooted the phone... nothing seems to work.

I have given up trying now. My iPhone 6 see's my car and the car see's the phone but it will not make a call. My iphone 5 works fine.

Whats the the point of upgrading to a phone that won't do the things the older models do without any issues. Come on Apple sort it out.

To all those for whom resetting network settings did not work. Try resetting all settings, not just network settings. That's what did the trick for me.

8.02 didn't make a bit of difference - it doesn't even mention Bluetooth, so looks like they didn't even know there were issues it seems or they may have tried something in 8.02.

I have issues with the following

    2009 BMW 335i

    2012 Honda Civic Si

    2014 BMW X3

At this point I just want to go back to my iphone 5 and get my money back - if the bluetooth doesn't work the phone is pretty useless to me as I use it on bluetooth constantly.  This thing makes windows 8 look like a decent product!

This worked for me. So far.

My wife and I upgraded from iPhone 5 to 6 on the 19th. I restored both phones from iTunes backups made immediately prior. I succesfully connected the 2 phones to 3 vehicles immediately. Noticed yesterday the issues everyone seems to be having. In my case, the phones can be connected but calls won't go through the bluetooth connection.

Today I upgraded the phones to iOS 8.02. Then I deleted the phones from the vehicles bluetooth devices. I reset ALL settings on the phones as suggested by akadmon. I paired the phones once again and everything worked. I also synced the phones to iTunes and restarted several times since, and all is still well.

    I hope it lasts.
