Unsupervising an iPad without the original configurator

Hi all, I have a question about iPad supervision.

I'm supervising iPad 4 devices running IOS8 using Apple Configurator. What happens if the Mac I'm running Apple Configurator on blows up and I lose the backups? I understand that I can only unsupervise the iPads using the original Mac I supervised them on.

Would I be able to restore the iPad to factory settings (thus removing the supervision) by putting it into recovery or DFU mode and reflashing IOS or would the iPads become expensive bricks?

Thanks in advance!

If you need to configure a device using a different Mac, and can’t return to Apple Configurator on the original Mac to unsupervise the device, open the Settings app on the device and choose General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. The device is now unsupervised. If you connect it to the original Mac, Apple Configurator will supervise it again.
