Jan 15, 2016 8:26 PM in response to KULIK121by Gihon,Here's what the deal is, that the poster did not explain… On the iPhone 6s each area of volume is remembered differently… You have to be in an active telephone call in order to adjust the ear volume , which is different from the speaker volume… And is also different from the general volume… all controlled by the same side buttons .
so here's an easy thing to do… Call your own telephone number,... while reaching voicemail make sure that you're not on speakerphone and then adjust the side buttons up for ear volume. I had the same problem. I just did this, and the problem is fixed.

Feb 4, 2016 5:21 PM in response to KULIK121by Weberv2,I have had the same issue and have researched a lot and found this is a fairly common problem. While I see different, "fixes" given, a lot of the problems have been around the use of the noise canceling setting. While I have tried every ,"fix" listed the issue still is occuring on my Iphone 6, and began when the latest IOS was downloaded on my phone. I suspect the problem is an audio phasing issue in the software. I would guess that the technology used to, "Noise cancel" is created by having ambient audio picked up by a mic in the phone, then through processing it is put out of phase and sent to the phones earphone speaker. In doing so the audio waves are canceling out each other, giving the effect of noise canceling and not being heard. When my issue began I not only noticed that my ear piece was much quieter but it sounded, "thin" or without a full frequency range as it normally would. This is a common side effect of audio being partially out of phase. Since all of my settings on my phone have been checked and the noise canceling is turned off I can only guess that the issue is a coding problem and not something I can fix myself, though I did reinstall the update twice just incase it installed improperly. I have noticed that for some people turning on and then off again the noise canceling has helped them, further convincing me that this may be the case. The only thing I can do is hope that the issue is known and is being corrected for the next IOS update. I will say that I have never had a problem with ambient noise during phone calls prior to this feature being added and would think that it could be removed from the next update without anyone noticing.

Feb 14, 2016 9:59 AM in response to Weberv2by mostlyretired,I bought a 6Plus a few days ago and the call and msg volume is too low, even at max on buttons, to hear properly. No, the plastic covers are not on. I have tried every proposed remedy on this site to no avail.. My phone software to 9.2.1 - I bought from AT&T store and they want to charge me a restocking fee for a defective phone ! I also found that when horizontal the display does not auto rotate. Tried all the fixes for that as well but looks like a bad gyro - also the subject of multiple posts. I asked the retail outlet that if I bring the phone in can I TRY a replacement (in this process you go from new to used certified - also BS IMO) to make sure it works properly for the two issues mentioned. They said it would have to be activated and I said fine, but I am not going to drive 100 miles + R/T to find out I have the same issues......This call volume thing seems to cross generations of Iphones so you would think they would get it right after ten years or so. Will post outcome but if it is not a software issue it is hard to expect a software update will fix it and Apple seems staunch in denying phone issues until the clamor gets too loud to ignore.

I don't understand why you have to be such a condescending jerk.

Mar 16, 2016 2:32 PM in response to KULIK121by hoosier-gal,I have had my iPhone 6 for about 14 months and never had a problem. Yesterday I noticed I could hardly hear incoming or outgoing calls.
I have powered off my phone, and have reset it to factory and it didn't help. I contacted Apple and they suggestion I got was to send it in... pay a $29 express fee and they would send me a different phone. They would put a hold on my credit card for the full amount of the phone. Once the repair was made to my current phone they would release the hold and charge me for the cost of the repair. I think that sounds a little stupid. They could charge you for the full amount of they phone saying it was not fixable.
Has anyone figured out the problem? Looking at all the posts it is obvious that I am not the only one having this problem.

Mar 16, 2016 4:08 PM in response to hoosier-galby 3X Champ,- Do you have a 6 or 6 Plus?
- Is it only through the phone's ear receiver that you are experiencing the issue?
- Are you stating that you were able to hear well for 14 months but then it began having problems after an update or something?
- Is the volume issue happening with every call or does it fluctuate?
- What carrier are you using?

Mar 18, 2016 9:21 AM in response to gruffalo62by everson16,I Think this might be my issue. Yesterday my boss' screen broke so I placed a wide layer or clear tape over the screen to prevent the shattered pieces from coming out. I will cut a hole around the speaker and see what happens.

Mar 18, 2016 3:01 PM in response to KULIK121by MsRinkyDink,I was having the same problem and got this suggestion; settings>general>accessibility>Scroll down to phone noise cancellation and turn it off. Hope this helps! Mine is louder since doing this but not as loud as my iPhone 5.

Mar 31, 2016 9:03 PM in response to gruffalo62by OperationsAnalystBoy,Do not ignore gruffalo62 they are absolutely right. I've had the phone for a few months and kept that soundproof plastic Apple sent it with on and I couldn't hear a thing. I took the plastic off and that solved the problem.

Apr 1, 2016 9:55 PM in response to KULIK121by giakis,I also have experienced this.
My iphone 5 and 5s in call volume was excellent.
iphone 6, 6 plus, 6s, 6s plus in call volume was very low.
Even went to audiologist to make sure my hearing was normal (it is).
I switched to Samsung due to these issues.
Just purchased an iphone se, verizon, 64gb, space grey.
From the first 5 seconds of my first phone call, knew the in call volume is just like I remember it on the 5/5s (very loud).
perhaps a hardware issue due small earpiece apparatus/dynamic in 6, 6 plus, 6s, 6s plus due to thin body.

Apr 2, 2016 6:50 AM in response to MsRinkyDinkby MsRinkyDink,I was having the same problem and got this suggestion; settings>general>accessibility>Scroll down to phone noise cancellation and turn it off. Hope this helps! Mine is louder since doing this but not as loud as my iPhone 5.
UPDATE: IT DIDN'T WORK. Most of my calls are still low volume. I called Verizon and they wanted to troubleshoot my phone. But I don't have a landline so that didn't work. Apparently you can't be on the phone when troubleshooting, duh. I bought insurance so I am going to replace the phone. I hope the next one isn't the same but from all the posts, I have a feeling it is an issue with the 6plus. Bummer. I really like the phone except for this problem.

Apr 2, 2016 6:53 AM in response to RPW1948by MsRinkyDink,From reading all the posts here I can't believe they don't know about the issue. When I called for tech support the person I talked to also never heard about it. I don't believe it. I think they are just wanting people to think it is just their phone not the 6plus. It is a defect for sure.
