Q: iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

I've had my Iphone 6 128gb for two days now. People are having problems hearing me on voice calls. The only way I've found to solve this is to change the phone position so that the microphone is much closer to my mouth. It means the phone sits a little lower on my face under my cheek bone. I've no problem with adjusting, but can foresee problems when in a loud environment as the ear speaker inevitably is further from the ear.

Hi - a possible fix is to go to Settings > General > Accessibilty > Hearing Aids and toggle Hearing Aid Mode to On.  This worked for me.

I did this and it now works just like it should...Maybe this will help you   Regards!

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 and immediately noticed that the phone call volume through the earpiece was much lower than my iPhone 5. Speaker volume was more than loud enough but the low earpiece volume (even though it was at max volume during the phone call) was making it difficult to understand anything.

A quick Google search for iphone 6 earpiece low volume brings up similar questions.

As mentioned by Ledsteplin on the iMore forums, a possible fix is to go to Settings > General > Accessibilty > Hearing Aidsand toggle Hearing Aid Mode to On. When I did this and proceeded to make a phone call the volume was only at half even though I remember setting the volume to max during the previous call. I increased the volume to max and noticed a significant difference.

I noticed that when you toggle Hearing Aid Mode to On you can no longer toggle Phone Noise Cancellation to On (which is set toOn by default in iOS 8). I have a feeling the Phone Noise Cancellation setting is the actual culprit and the real fix is to simply toggle itOff, make a phone call, and set your phone call volume to max.

I have had problems with the volume on calls from day one... still waiting for a replacement.  I cannot hear when there is any backround noise unless I put it on speaker phone. The best way to get this addressed is to complain to support so the problem gets fixed.

    Hello!

I got an iPhone 6 Plus and my boss got the iPhone 6 and both were having the same problem with the call volume so I looked here and the Hearing Aid Mode ON tip solved my problem. We were calling to each other to check if it had worked and I could hear him loud and clear but he said he heard me very low. Until I remembered the posts about the plastic film... and it turned out he hadn't removed the plastic protector When he did it (with the Hearing Aid Mode ON) he could hear me perfectly. So thanks to everybody for mentioning both solutions.

    Hi All,

    i have to say:

Switching on the hearing aid mode is NOT A SOLUTION!

The earpiece of the phone should be loud enough just in normal mode.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 6 and my replacement unit is perfect now.

Maybe Apple knows about the problem and improved the hardware in the newer devices.

    Kind regards,

    Tom

    Hello,

I got my iPhone 6 today (iOS 8.1.1) and I have also this stupid problem! Using the same Sennheiser headphones which works well with my iPhone 4S, I have a really low volume when playing music. I cannot tell for call, I didn't receive yet... Reboot, no plastic cover, hearing aid mode on/off, I have tested all the workarounds given in that post, nothing works. It's really annoying.

I hope we will get an official answer from Apple soon.

    Regards.

    Pierre

This thread is about the earpiece volume and NOT about the headset sound.

The sound of the headphone out is great.
