Q: IOS8 and car Bluetooth no audio on iPhone 6+

Can't answer calls using car Bluetooth on ios8 with iPhone 6  but streaming music works fine. IOS 8 with iPhone 5s worked fine. Reset Bluetooth settings and still the same.  No audio at all for calls.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8

iOS 8.1 (came out today 20 Oct 2014) fixed this issue on my iPhone 6 Plus. Car is a 2013 KIA K5 Optima Turbo SXL.

Looks like Apple fixed the problem. I'd be curious if it fixed it for other brands of cars. I sincerely hope so for all of you

Ha, not only 8.1 DIDN'T fix the Bluetooth car issues - It created them!

I had a iPhone 5, which on 8.0.2 didn't pair correctly with my Hyundai. It paired, could play the music, but showed no network on the phone - hence - no calls possible.

Then two weeks ago i got a new iPhone 6 and restored the older iPhone 5, still with the 8.0.2 over the new 6. No reset of anything in the software - just restore of a backup.

Then - voila - the new iPhone 6 did pair absolutely fine - music, calls, calling list - the whole thing.

Then - yesterday, 8.1 comes, I foolishly upgrade and - bam! - no calling again - the phone pairs, it does show network, can dial, answer etc., but there is no sound going either way when I take the call.

So instead of fixing the issues, Apple just changed them.

Sorry to hear that 8.1 broke things for you!

The only advice I have is the following:

    • When you "upgraded" to 8.1 did you
      • DO an over the air upgrade? OR
      • Did a full image upgrade connected to a MAC / PC?
      • I have been told it makes a difference to do a full upgrade
    • Also did you reset ALL network connections from GENERAL | NETWORK CONNECTIONS?
      • Take note that by deleting network connections you will have to re-enter your wifi and a few other passwords over again!
    • Did you delete all pairings from your car's software?

I also was very frustrated in the past weeks giving some feedback to Apple regarding some workarounds I tried.

The BEST advice is to document every step you take and open a case with Apple and show them you are systematic at your approach to troubleshoot.

They will respond and at the very least escalate your issue to the engineers that need the feedback.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice. I used of course the easiest approach - that's why i use Apple after all. Over the air upgrade, no reset of anything (or deletion of Bluetooth). I first will try the restore, as it's most painless, although long.

Actually the 8.0.2 worked after restore (on a new iPhone 6), maybe it will work on 8.1 as well.

Also my old iPhone 5, which stopped working at 8.0.2 was also upgraded over the air

Actually the restore (and just applying the last backup) helped. Obviously the issue was with the OTA upgrade
