Q: 10.9.5 FaceTime and iMessage Connection Issues

Its obvious that the latest 10.9.5 update is breaks Facetime and iMessage from all the messages posted about the issue.

These issues only seem to be resolved by calling Apple Support and having them fix the issue on the Apple Servers.

However if you don't have a current Apple Care plan they want you to pay $19.99 for the support call.

This is an Apple problem from a bad update and Apple should resolve it at no cost to users or release the fix.

If anyone knows of any other fix or if Apple is attempting to fix the issue please let me know.

    Hi,

There are several different type of error messages.

There are the four supposedly covered by this Doc FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues

There is a fifth where the User gets a longer Error message with instruction to Contact Apple Support and give them an Error code number.

this tends to be free but it does help if you explain it is an Account issue (that involves iMessages in the Messages App on the Mac).
Ask to speak to a Level 2 Support person if you get baulked.

More recently (for many the 9th September seems to be the key) there have been many more who don't see and error messages but do get told none of their Contacts are "registered with iMessage" which is an error as they work on iPhone and iPads.  (Although iPads can be in either group)

Today I posted in the Apple Support Communities Lounge (Level 6 posters and above) where the Hosts will hopefully push the info up the line.  (it was posted with the "New Technical Issues" tag).

I also posted feedback to the iChat feedback page.  I use this ones as Messages came out of iChat.

The issue with this is the time it takes to cycle through the process.

Only twice have apple provided an Standalone Update to iChat or Messages and the last of those was at iChat 3.

There may be a 6th error message that tell you "the Device does not have the appropriate Credentials".

I have only seen one post listing this and the issue is not resolved (the Original Poster has yet to return).

    Hi,

    4thanx.gif for the 1helpful.png  Points

It is necessary to make it clear it is an Account/Apple ID issue even though the info comes from the iMessages account.

I'm also having this issue. All my contacts are showing up as "not registered with iMessage" when using Messages on Mac 10.9.5.

After calling Apple were they able to rectify the situation?

    Hi,

In the scheme of things you have a different issue to the Original Poster in that they get an Error Message telling them what to do.

You have the very similar problem that is possible a little further on in the login process.

Until you try to send an iMessages your iMessage account appears logged in.

When you try you have the Red Contacts (all contacts) they then have a different error Messages saying they are not Registered with iMessages.

In this thread someone reports their issue has been spontaneously fixed  (it is on page 5 as I have trouble getting the thread to display properly)
