Q: Contstantly have to reboot iphone 6 to obtain data connection

New iPhone 6 upgrade from iPhone 4S.  AT&T

WiFi, LTE and 4G - none will maintain a persistent (data) connection.  Have to reboot phone to get a data connection and then that only lasts a few minutes.  Tried switching on/off WiFi, Cellular, resetting network connections with no luck.  Next step thinking of doing complete restore to factory settings and then restore from backup.  Anyone have any thoughts out there?!

BTW, seven iOS devices in the household (all updated to iOS 8; some LTE/WiFi; some WiFi only) and none have the same problems as I'm experiencing with NEW iPhone 6. Heck, I can sit with my iPad Air (LTE) right next to iPhone 6 and have abosuletly no issues with the Air surfing, using data, etc. (LTE or WiFi).

Did I say Argh  (and it's not speak like a pirate day)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HI tdogg5184

My issue is essentially verbatim of what you described. Wondering if the apple id was the issue and the process of how you fixed it, in terms of waiting a couple of days after the factory restore. If you could please reply to this ASAP...

I have been suffering from the same issue for quite some time. Recently, I had a phone call with technical support and the proposal was to go back to factory settings via iTunes and initialize the iPhone as new as there was no problems seen with the device. So, basically not "Reset All Settings" or any other reset via iPhone but a complete iOS restore via iTunes.

    So, I tried the following.

    - Did a full backup via iTunes

    - Restored iOS (8.1.3) by starting up the phone by holding the home+power button

    - Initialized the phone as a new iPhone

    - Restored the phone from backup

Today is my third day without any drop in data connection. Solution seems to work so far. I will post an update if anything goes weird.

Today Feb 19, 2015, internet connection failed even though phone was connected to WiFi network (full signal strength). No internet connection through mobile network as well.

This morning, I did the following:

    - Full backup via iTunes

    - Restored iOS (8.1.3) via iTunes

    - Initialized the phone as new iPhone

I did not restore anything from backup. I only defined my Mail account and myGoogle account (for contacts). No new apps restored or installed.

On Feb 22, 2015, internet connection failed again with the same conditions: connected to WiFi network/mobile network.

I called Apple, briefly discussed the problem and went through my previous tickets on this matter. The suggestion was to take my phone to an Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar. I did not have an appointment but I wanted to show the iPhone when it had the problem.

Bottom line, Apple replaced my iPhone. The new iPhone had iOS 8.0.2, which seemed to work fine, and I was hesitant to upgrade to 8.1.3. I used it for a week with iOS 8.0.2 and then upgraded to iOS 8.1.3. So far, no such issues as loss of internet connection.

My personal view: An exceptional HW issue or a combination caused by HW/SW integration.

    Good luck to all...

Nope, problem still there with the new iPhone as well. I think the issue happens when the phone is kept inactive (during the night for instance) for a long time, so that the phone goes to sleep. Coming out of sleep, somehow internet connection can not be restored. I suspect there is a low battery effect as well. When the battery is low and/or the phone is inactive for a long time, the problem gets triggered. At least, that's what I suspect.

BTW, I've got 128GB space gray iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3.

Wishing all the best for everyone...

Its the end of 2015 and i recently upgraded to iphone 6 and i am experiencing the same problem. Have to constantly switch airplane mode on off to get internet. Apple has failed once again not fixing this issue after so long. And i am right in assuming a new sim card will wipe out all my settings?

I have this very same issue happening to me right now with my iPhone 6 Plus.  Did you ever get a resolution to this?

I've recently had a similar issue with an iPhone 6S Plus on iOS 9.3.2 with AT&T service. After the phone is in an area with no or limited cellular service (like in an underground garage) and I come out the phone will pick up "4G" but not the "LTE" signal until I toggle airplane mode on and off.  I did a speed test just to be sure it's not just displaying "4G" but actually on "LTE." Sure enough data speeds doubled after I toggled airplane mode on and off and "LTE" was displayed.  I called Apple, who advised to tun on data roaming and turn off wifi assist in settings. That did not help. They advised to "reset network settings" if the first two things didn't work. Resetting network settings also didn't work.

Based on some of the previous posts I may try a new SIM from AT&T and see if that makes any difference before I do a full restore of the phone.

i contacted AT&T and they had to do resetting on their end to solve my problem. Took them 2 tries, but it finally worked without me having to restore my phone.

I'll have to try that. Now the problem has worsened. When I come out of wifi range I'll get no data connection at all until I toggle airplane mode on and off.
