keep getting message pop up "unable to download item try again later" on my ipod touch 5?
keep getting this message pop up on my ipod touch 5 since the new ioS 8 undate, has anyone got any suggestions how to make it stop?
iPod touch, iOS 8
This has been happening to me too and a bunch of others. I have the iPhone 6 and ito very frustrating I have no idea what to do.
Seems to be an Apple problem. You will just have to wait till Apple fixes it.
Is it happening on ioS8? Have tried to find help on apple support but no luck!!!
Hey hjl2014, Don't know... May help if you could share what you are attempting to download. Cheers.
Me too, keep getting this message & driving me crazy I have iPhone 5 & 5s. I've tried everything. Doesn't seem to happen so much on my iPhone 5 ?
Anyway looking for a answer after many days, I came across (not sure if its the problem ?) Go into iTunes store, click on more - Music - purchase - look through all music & some seem to be still in iCloud ? Even though I have my setting to entire music collection !!! I've more than enough room on my phone for all music & more. So then I downloaded all from iCloud, but for some reason, they won't stay downloaded to phone ? You go back & they are back in iCloud waiting to download again ?? Is this what's causing "unable to download please try later" ??
As I said the iPhone 5 not so bad, but hasn't so much music waiting to download from iCloud ??
Thats the problem not sure what is trying to download - the message just appeared a couple of days after ios8 update.
I wonder if restoring to factory setting would clear it (only had the ipod touch since May 2014 so dont have a lot on it) ???
Well seems to me, mine keeps trying to download music as it won't save to iPhone ? It downloads, process, you come out of iTunes Store, go back in, it's ready to download again ???
Ive have rebooted to factory settings, been through all my apps ! Still same problem !
I only had a free album in my library on itunes store which I didnt want so hide it from the ipod, now just have to wait and see if this sorts the problem.
If it still appers I will go to my local apple store and get them to sort it - only had ipod 5 months should be under 12 month warranty
Yeah if you find the cure I'm sure there are a few people waiting !
Some of my music are what I put in on disc, random artist ? It's not till I go in purchase & individualy check every artist, the iCloud appears ? Then like I say in my above message, Will not save to phone !
I have gone onto the iTunes store and deleted the only one album in my purchased folder (given free on iTunes - U2 album) and so far 5 hours the above message has not appeared - hopefully it will stay away.
I can agree with responses here that I believe this is related to digital booklets. This first started happening on my 4S after downloading an album on IOS8 with a digital booklet (Not U2s). Since then I have gotten an IPhone 6 and downloaded U2s new album which caused this issue again. The iPhone 6 did not do this at all before the download. I have tried downloading the booklet to my ITunes and syncing with no avail. My popup only seems to appear on reboot however thank goodness. I have chatted with Apple about this while still using my 4S so hopefully it is in their database. If anyone finds a repeatable fix please let us know!
Hi, I managed to sync the booklet to my iPhone 4s 3 days ago and still no pop ups since. I posted it at the end of another thread
I Worked around this by going to my music library on my iphone5 (not iTunes) and went thru each artist and downloaded them from there with no problem. Hope this helps as I was frustrated by this for 6 months on my old iphone5 that I only use for music.
