Q: After upgrading to iOS8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order.

After upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order on my & my husband's iPads and iPhones.  Anyway to get back in order or do we need to revert to prior iOS?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

iPhoto for iOS is no longer supported nor works in iOS 8 and has been dropped from further development by Apple.  This Apple document describes how to migrate photos from iPhoto to Photos: Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8

It's a whole new ballgame now.  Here's some info on how the Photos apps now works.

Your photos are still on your phone.  With iOS 8 there is no My Photo Stream or Camera Roll any more.  The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.

The CR is replaced by the Collections mode.  The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.

The photos will be in chronological order when scrolled up from the bottom of the window.

The Recent Activity album is showing the photos added in the last 30 days going back to 8/20 (today being 9/18).  In iPhoto on a Mac the My Photo Stream is showing more like 31 days, 8/19 to today, 8/20. It must be how the two devices calculate the last 30 days.

WARNING:  If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device and disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

Thank you, Old Toad, for your prompt response.

I never used the iPhoto app on the iPhone or iPad.  However, all of my photos (as far as I can tell; I have 42k plus photos w/over 2k events in iPhoto) synced to the iPhone & iPad w/iOS 8.  The only issue is that the Events from my Mac are out of order.  It looks as though the Collections may be in date order, but they are not nearly as helpful or meaningful as Events.  They had synced perfectly (after several attempts) on both iPhones and iPads w/iOS 7...  I am super disappointed in Apple, to say the least.

    If possible, 2 questions:

    1. If I roll back our iPads & iPhones to the backup copy (prior to iOS 8), should my photos work like they used to?

    2. Is Apple planning to discontinue iPhoto like they did iWeb?

    Thanks much.

That's not possible. Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

    2. Is Apple planning to discontinue iPhoto like they did iWeb?

Yes.  It already has.  iPhoto on the Mac will continue to work for some time until the new Photos app is released for Macs running Yosemite.  It's possible that Photos for iOS may be upgraded also but there's no info about that.

I have several phone calls into Apple support. Their conclusion is that even though I never used iPhoto on any of my iOS devices the Photos app prior to iOS 8 was a version of iPhoto and the features of organizing Events chronologically and Faces alphabetically is no longer being supported. I was also informed that Apple doesn't read these forums much and was encouraged to give feedback to Apple.

the more feedback they receive on this issue the sooner they will get a update together to fix this.

Yes. iPhoto for Mac will no longer be developed. Next year "Photos" will be released for the Mac as a successor to iPhoto and Aperture.  See these links:
