iOS 8 Messages - No badge alert, no sound alert

The same thing is happening to me. No VIP alerts from Mail going to my iPhone 4s since upgrading to iOS 8. Any solution?

Try deleting Messages from Notification screen. Turn off all options in Message settings. Restart your phone. Go back into settings and turn badge alert back on, Sounds and turn back on the sound you use for Message alerts.

I had this problem too, and couldn't find a solution anywhere.

I've just sort of figured it out, and it seems to be something to do with the iphone not trusting the email server that your imessages use. I might be wrong about the cause of it, but here's how I fixed it:

Reset Network Settings (in settings>general>reset)

Wait for your phone to reboot

Tap the Messages app

If you have the same situation I had, a box should appear in the centre of the screen, saying something about a server not being trusted. Tap "Details" (don't tap "Continue")

A new Settings screen should open up. In the top right corner, tap "Trust"

That oughta do it! You might have lost your saved Wifi passwords, but it's worth it

I can confirm that Resetting the Network Settings solves this issue!
