Q: Remove device from "My Devices" list in iCloud.com "Settings"

Hi,

I have upgraded my iphone and followed everything to disassociate from my account.

I have turned off find my iphone, then erased the phone.

As a result, I can't see the old phone on find my iphone. Great.

BUT... if I go to iCloud.com, in "Settings", I can still see the old phone listed here, and can't do anything to remove it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

    Same problem.

Sold my 5S (after Disabling "Find my iPhone", logging out from iCould and erasing it completely).

Removed it from my Support Profile.

Still have both 6 and 5S on iCloud Settings page.

The 5S does not show up in Find my iPhone, which makes sense.

Also having this problem with my Ipad 2 which I've just sold on ebay and am prepping for postage. I've definitely signed out of icloud on it, because the Ipad is sat right in front of me, logged into my second apple id (which is totally unaffiliated with the main one), but it's still showing up in my icloud settings on my main apple id. Grr!

Go to icloud.com Click on Find my iPhone. Open the dropdown list of All Devices. Mouse over the phantom device. Click the x on the right side. It will verify that you want to remove the device and warn you that it will reappear in your list of it connects to the internet and find my iPhone is turned on.

Most people do not have the phantom device in the Find my iPhone devices list. As myself, they are in the situation where the phantom device is only showing up in the iCloud >> Settings, Devices List.

Wow, no one appears to be reading this thread. A solution was found and people continue saying the same thing. I am unsubscribing from this thread. It's annyi to keeping receving this notifications.

    Solution?

I have not seen anything that fixes the problem for people who are NO LONGER in possession of the device.

NO the device does not show under Find my iPhone - ONLY under iCloud > Settings.

AND NO, removing the device from the list of Trusted Devices on the Manage Apple ID page does not work (most people do not even see it listed there either)

IF still in possession of the device, use the same Apple ID used prior and sign in on the device again and then:

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to wipe it.

I was able to resolve this issue.

To clarify, I DID NOT have the old device.  I had an issue with my old iPhone 5s and swapped it at an Apple store.  Prior to swapping, I did a full erase/reset on my old device.  A few days after the swap, I noticed in my iCloud account that the old device was showing in the "My Devices" view of iCloud in addition to the new device.  It was not showing in my Find My iPhone view.

After reading this forum I didn't have much hope but I called Apple Support and explained the issue.  The first Adviser said that since the old device wasn't showing in my Find My iPhone view I was all set.  When I questioned further about the My Devices view she connected me with a Sr. Adviser.  The Sr. Adviser was able to log into the "back end" of my iCloud account after I provided him my challenge question answers.  He verified which one was the old device and removed it.  While on the phone I logged out and back into iCloud and the old device was gone.

Hope this helps and while it's not step-by-step instructions, if you call and ask to speak with a Sr. Adviser it is possible to resolve.

    Thank you so much!

Just got off the phone, I can confirm calling and speaking with a Sr. Adviser is the solution at the moment. He successfully removed the device from my ICloud > Settings list of devices.

I sent him a link to this thread and explained the situation in detail. He will forwarding this to their engineering team.

Glad it worked for someone else as well.  Requesting a Sr. Adviser is a solution for this frustrating problem (for people who no longer have access to the device).

After been trying with many different methods. It didn't work. But after 2 months the device has gone. I think it takes time for the program to remove the device.

I still have the old phone and I am not sure what took care of the issue and removed the old device from "my devices" .....This is what I did..

On my old phone and after I had reset it, I started from scratch with a different apple id I have....I logged in to icloud and after a minute or so... I logged off from Icloud.....  Then just for the **** of it... I logged back on to icloud (on the same old phone) with my good apple id (the one that had the issue with ) and after a minute I logged back off also. ...Now the phone is gone from "my devices"....so I am not sure what removed it  but it is gone now..

    Good luck.

For those who do not have the previous iOS device but need its backups cleared from iCloud, this solution may work, using the new iOS device.  On the new iOS device (not in Safari on the Mac) go to:

Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.

Then you may select the old device, and delete. It still shows in the iCloud under “My Devices”, but I believe this will help to free up some space in iCloud, by deleting the old backups.  Perhaps with time it will be removed, or we may be given an option to remove it, from "My Devices" under iCloud.
