Q: Remove device from "My Devices" list in iCloud.com "Settings"

Hi,

I have upgraded my iphone and followed everything to disassociate from my account.

I have turned off find my iphone, then erased the phone.

As a result, I can't see the old phone on find my iphone. Great.

BUT... if I go to iCloud.com, in "Settings", I can still see the old phone listed here, and can't do anything to remove it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Same problem as everyone else.  Nothing has worked to remove my old iPhone 4s. I have not called a Sr Adviser...  I wish Apple would get their act together...

It just happened to me today. Shocking a bit.

It's nothing more than a glitch in iCloud.com system. Might be related to the poor connection ? Just speculating.

Here is how I resolved it.

If you still have the device:

Sign the device in again to the iCloud (you should notice the device name changed in iCloud.com + LogOut/LogIn required) Then, turn off all the iCloud services on the old device again with "Find my iPad" at the end. Sign out completely. Return to iCloud.com + LogOut/LogIn = you shouldn't see the device anymore.

If you do however - repeat this step.

If you haven't your device anymore:

Then the best thing is to wait 2 - 3 months for iCloud.com to refresh services. Always make sure you are correctly logged off / signed off before you sell the device. Nowadays technology is much more private than it was few years ago… People still tent to forget about it.

If you have a number next to your new device's name after you successfully removed your old one:

You will have to sign new device in again - it will bring back the correct name. Before you do that - be aware what you have synchronised with iCloud already to make sure you won't loose anything.

Do I have to remind you of backing up your devices before doing anything related to the possible files missing?

    Have a great day!

iCloud.com now seems to have an option to delete devices by clicking the gray circle with the X next that appears after hovering on a device in the "Find My iPhone" app device list.

The phone I need to remove doesn't show on "Find My Phone"... but it does show under devices and from there you can't remove it.  As far as I know you've always been able to remove a phone from "Find My Phone", you just can't remove it from the Settings/Device screen.

In this example I'm trying to remove the phone labeled "iPhone" which is a iPhone 4s...

After reporting the same problem some weeks ago, I just noticed the iPhone is not showing up anymore. I guess it is a glitch which is solved automatically in due time...

However, a Delete button on the Settings page near the individual devices would be welcome.

Hi All,  I'm having a similar issue as everyone here but for me my ghosted devices showed up after i ran os x in a virtual machine on my mac.  I only have 1 macbook pro, and 1 iPhone 5.  I was able to successfully remove old iPhone references through find my iPhone and iTunes.  However  the two ghosted devices for devices that don't physically exist show up in my devices under settings.  The problem here is I believe it broke continuity as well.  since it quit working  after this problem showed up.

The macbook pro expects the handoff and continuity features to  be there , the iPhone doesn't recognize the features even exist. however sees other devices on my network such  as Roku player etc.  For me the features seem to turn on and turn off  very suddenly and randomly.

here is a screen shot of what's going on.  Also keep in mind the ghosted devices don't even show up as a genuine device.

I know I posted a few pictures, but I wanted to show details of the exact issue since it's different then most.  The two devices with the iFrog-Media name are the real functioning devices.  How the virtualized iPhones showed up I have no idea, i never used the iPhone with vmware virtual machines of os x.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas let me know thanks!

    Sigh.

Well guess who just fell down the same rabbit hole.

    I think my situation is slightly unique. I think I have a semi-corrupt de-link.

Had an iPhone 5 that I sold this weekend. I followed the erase and reset protocol Apple recommends.

Turned off Find My iPhone > Deleted iCloud Account On the Device > Fresh Restore via Itunes > Restarted Phone and brought it through to an activated state as a fresh phone "orphan" phone with no account links or connection to iCloud. Sent it off to the seller.

    Low and behold,

    - Whenever I log into Safari on my devices, it sees all the old opened tabs I had on my old phone!

    - When I log into iCloud through the Safari browser, it shows that I have an iPhone 5 on IOS8 on the 'My Devices' page in settings BUT oddly enough when I go to Find My iPhone it doesn't show the device at all.

I have the same issue, old phone is removed from find my iPhone (as I signed out) but still present in Settigns. Spoke to Apple support and they said dont worry about it as long as you wiped the device the new user will be able to use it properly.

IT'S NOT REALLY A BIG DEAL FOLKS!

Tell me how if the device is not in your possession.  Apple has fixed nothing as far as I can tell.

No instant solutions, it will just disappear after 1-2 months.

The reason that something that a multiBillion company cannot dedicate the resources to fix would not, of course, be that the more devices that have stuff stored in iCloud, the more storage one needs to buy. I am certain that Apple would not think in this way...
