Q: Remove device from "My Devices" list in iCloud.com "Settings"

Hi,

I have upgraded my iphone and followed everything to disassociate from my account.

I have turned off find my iphone, then erased the phone.

As a result, I can't see the old phone on find my iphone. Great.

BUT... if I go to iCloud.com, in "Settings", I can still see the old phone listed here, and can't do anything to remove it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

This guide works. However, make sure to use your @icloud address to login on iCloud and not @mac.com or me.com which does not work !

I got the official information on this problem from an Apple Senior Advisor today...

If you sell or get rid of your device, you first need to go to Settings / iCloud / Find My iPhone (turn off) / General / Reset / Erase All Content and Settings (Clears everything and restores to factory condition.)  Next, there are a few places where your device is still listed; delete the device from "Manage Devices" in iTunes, and from supportprofile.apple.com under "My Products." However, the device will STILL be listed on the iCloud site under Settings / My Devices for 30 days (after which it will become inactive and drop off). You cannot delete it from the site yourself, but you can call Apple and have a senior advisor delete it on their end if you are in a hurry. Hope this helps!

I just got the 6 Plus and gave my 6 to my son. I wiped my phone and it is still listed in iCloud.com under my devices. I am just chiming in here to say I am having the problem as well.

    Hi iOSJake,

As I explained in my reply (just before your's), this is normal. Your old device will STILL be listed on the iCloud site under Settings / My Devices for 30 days (after which it will become inactive and drop off). You cannot delete it from the site yourself, but you can call Apple and have a senior advisor delete it on their end if you are in a hurry.

Thanks for the clarification whydavewhy.  A clear and concise explanation of what to do.  It would have been nice if Apple would have been more clear about the protocol to turn off iCloud before a restore to factory settings.  They could have had a warning during the erase and restore about the necessity to disconnect from Find My Iphone and iCloud to have a phone that is truly wiped clean.  I think myself and a lot of people assumed that a restore to factory settings is exactly that.  It would be even better if you could log into your personal iCloud account and actually delete any device at any time you wanted but presently that is not possible.  You should not have to contact a senior advisor or go through a 13 page thread to try to figure out what to do.  In my case even though I had photo sharing turned off it continued to send photos to my old phone which was not in my possession any more.  I was forced to disconnect my new phone in just the way Dave described from iCloud which worked perfectly.  Now my new phone is not in my device list in iCloud or connected to iCloud in any way.  Of course now I do not have the Find My iPhone feature or iCloud back up on my new phone any more.  It has been about thirty days but still see my old phone in the device list in Settings on iCloud.  Once it goes away then I will reconnect my new phone to iCloud.

    A different context:

    1. My current phone is an iPhone 6 which I upgraded from my iPhone 4S

    2. I gave my old iPhone 4S to my spouse

    3. My iCloud Account still shows my old iPhone 4S

    6. How do I remove my old iPhone 4S from iCloud?

    Any suggestion?

Before your wife starts putting her stuff on the iPhone 4S, you first need to get all of your old information off of it and get it out of iCloud. Go to Settings / iCloud / Find My iPhone (turn off) / General / Reset / Erase All Content and Settings (Clears everything and restores to factory condition.) Next, there are a few places where your device is still listed; delete the device from "Manage Devices" in iTunes, and from supportprofile.apple.com under "My Products." My 4s dissapeared after approx 2 months of selling it and activating my new  6 PLus

Anyway, I don't see why this is such a big issue for people? This will not stop a new user settign it up for themselves as long as the device has been signed out of iCloud and wiped.

I am also having this problem, except unable to remove old Macs.  I just recently set up a new iMac by restoring from the backup of my previous machine.  This apparently creates two separate machines, as they have different serial numbers (the ends of which can be viewed in that device list in iCloud on the web).

Further, this is preventing the Messages and SMS sync from working correctly.  One of the "phantom" Macs is showing up as the only option in the Text Message Forwarding options in Messages on my iPhone 6.  However, the current version of that device (the restored and currently online version) does not even appear as an option.

This solved my issue as well. On my old iPhone I had to set it up again, and then go to Settings > iCloud and tap Sign Out. My phone is still "signing out" after 10 minutes and I suspect it will never finish signing out, but at least, when I refresh the iCloud Settings page in Safari on my MacBook, I see the old phone is finally removed. No reset procedure work except that: manually signing out before erasing the old iPhone. I was running iOS 8.2 on an old iPhone 5.
