Q: Remove device from "My Devices" list in iCloud.com "Settings"

Hi,

I have upgraded my iphone and followed everything to disassociate from my account.

I have turned off find my iphone, then erased the phone.

As a result, I can't see the old phone on find my iphone. Great.

BUT... if I go to iCloud.com, in "Settings", I can still see the old phone listed here, and can't do anything to remove it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

My old Iphone 5 is listed in ICloud.  I no longer have it.  So I guess I can't get rid of it from the device list.  However, my new Iphone 6 is not listed, how do I get it listed?  Do I have to turn on Find My Phone?

Can't remove a device from iCloud

I very recently got a new iMac. I added synced it along with my iPhone and Macbook Pro to iCloud. Today the iMac had to go back to Apple to be changed for a different spec model.

The problem I'm having now is that i can not seem to remove this device from my devices in iCloud. I can not find a remove option anywhere.

I was just on the phone to Apple and they could not help me remove it either.

    Does anyone know how?

I spoke with 2 Apple representatives for one hour trying to figure this out. The supervisor said that this happens to be a glitch in the system. However he also said that the iCloud website should reset every 90 days and when it does any "ghost" devices should be removed automatically, if not currently signed in to iCloud. Hope this helps.

Thanks, we'll see in 90 days.  Now how does my new phone get listed under devices?

Your new iPhone should automatically be listed under devices as long as it is running iOS 8, when you sign into your iCloud account.

Thanks for the info Dave, we will see in 90 days if the i6+ I exchanged will disappear from iCloud.

Now this is off topic and does make me think of all that's been talked on this thread..

Since I switched my i6+ and have both devices showing up in iCloud is that interfering with the family share notification from my kids when trying get an App on their iPhone which i'm not receiving on my new phone but I am receiving it on my iPad and MBP?

Is anyone here that have multiple devices in iCloud experiencing this same issue?

I'd say create another thread.  This one is wrapped up pretty nicely for now, and if someone were to look for a resolution (albeit a "wait to see if it goes away" resolution), they're going to look to the end.

    Thanks much!

Apple Tech Support has pretty blown me off every time I've tried to get this issue resolved. I had to exchange an iPad Mini at the store and was told to disable "find my phone" and do a full erase of the device, which I did.  What the rep failed to tell me, is that I also had to logout of iCloud on the returned Mini BEFORE doing the erase all contents. Now I have both my replacement Mini and the one I returned to the store showing in iCloud.com, settings, my devices. The returned device does not show in the "find my phone," or in iTunes connected devices. It only shows on iCloud.com under settings and listed devices. It's a ghost device now and I have no way to get a hold of it to login and logout again. This is UNACCEPTABLE and incredibly frustrating. The Apple support advisors have been nothing but condescending and dismissive that I don't want the returned device listed in iCloud.com. Ridiculous that we don't have an option to remove the old device that was not logged off of iCloud before the full factory restore. The employees at the Apple Store gave me incomplete directions and now without a way to correct it, I'm left holding the bag as a consumer. Very disappointed. The only thing left to do now and wait 90 days and pray that the "ghost/phantom" device goes away on its own. Customer support has been anything but helpful or understanding that WE NEED AND OPTION TO DELETE OLD DEVICES from iCloud Setting's listed devices that we no longer have access to. I'm very close to ditching Apple and switching to Windows Phone.

We all have this issue, however there seems to be an automatic delete after 90 days.

A bit overblown reaction? No one is dead, devises still working?

I upgraded to an iPhone 6.

I still have an iPhone 4S and did this initially just before I reset and erased the phone. It still showed up in my iCloud.

So, I set up the 4S as a new phone, logged in with my Apple ID, turned on 'Find my phone', then turned it off. Then signed out of iCloud on the 4S. Reset/erased the phone AGAIN.

Now the phone is gone from iCloud.com

I'm awaiting a message from AT&T as I've also requested an unlock.

If you still have the device then it wouldn't be a problem. Most of us here do not have the device anymore.

I sold my iPhone 5 over a month ago and have the same problem. I've followed the thread and can see there's no solution.

However, when i ran the activation lock test on the old iPhone 5, I get the message "Activation Lock On" and "The Current Users Apple ID and Password will be required before anyone else can activate and use this device".

Does this mean the new user has full control of the phone, and everything is fine, or does it mean they are restricted in it's use and possibly able to access my iCloud?
