so my friend has an android phone, and up until today it's been fine texting. And I went to reply to their text message today and its saying that it's now imessage, but it's not. I have no clue why this is happening. I have never had an issue such as this before. Please help!

I'm not sure I understand what you are stating. Are you stating that you cannot send any text messages to your friend anymore? Or, are you stating that the Messages app is identifying your friend's number as linked to an iOS or OSX device (iPhone, iPad, iPod or Mac) but you can still send texts?
You should advise your friend to follow the instructions in Apple Support article TS5185.
Have you activated the setting to "Send as SMS" when iMessage is unavailable?
Like SIlvergc said, your friend may have another iDevice that is receiving the messages.
It is saying it is linked to an iOS device, but it only sends as imessage, but before it was sending as regular SMS
Activate the setting i mentioned and try again.
Send as SMS is always activated on my phone. I turned it off then back on and it's still doing the same thing. I go to text the person, and it says iMessage, but they have an android device.

You never answered my question, are you able to send texts to your friend or not? Forget about iMessage right now, just want to know if the texts are getting through.
