iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

I'm having the same issue, and called Apple and the rep couldn't have been more rude. I have had my iPhone 6 plus for 2 months and there are scratches on the top and bottom corners. My phone has never been dropped or scraped against anything. The rep on the phone tells me that I'm lying and the only way there could be a scratch is if I've done something personally to scratch it. I asked her, so basically it's my fault for putting the phone in my pocket and pulling it out of my pocket, she said essentially yes or that I've done something to scratch it.

This is the worst service I've ever had from Apple, and it's quite disgusting. I've had 4 iPhones and have never had a single scratch on the display, and I'd dropped them on a couple of occasions. I went to the apple store and they told me I would need to meet with a tech support rep, and I told them it wasn't a tech support issue and they said then there is nothing they can do because I'm outside of the 14 day return window and didn't offer any alternatives to resolve the issue and were totally rude. This is the absolute worst customer service I've received from Apple. So then I had an online chat session with tech support and they were a bit more polite and said the best option I have is to speak with the manager directly at an Apple store and they will make the judgement call on if they want to help or not. I'll NEVER buy another Apple product again, and I will make sure to tell all my friends and associates about the horrible service I've received because this is absolutely ridiculous. I've been buying Apple products for 10 years and they've basically given me, and numerous others, the finger about this issue.

I am currently at the Apple Store now waiting for my screen replacement for my iPhone 6+. The genius rep told me "even a sharp thread from your jeans could scratch the coating." I had 2 hairline scratches directly where the keyboard is. Even after showing this thread and explaining that my iPhone 4,4s,5 and 5s never had this problem they wont cover it under warranty...

I agree, very disappointed with iPhone 6 screen. 4- iPhone 3's, 4-iPhone 4's, 4-iPhone 5's Never had a screen with a scratch, now 2 of my 4-iPhone 6's are scratched after less than a month. I guess Apple cut corners and acquiesced to the screen protector companies. Too late for me, but I am going to advise something I never thought I would have to say about an iPhone. "Get a screen protector."

Shame on you Apple for cheapening the quality of the iPhone 6.

After two weeks of questions and internet research I have the conclusion :

this time Apple didn't use Corning Gorilla Glass on the brand new iPhone.

That's the fact.

Someone is having problem, someone not.

I think that this new " product " ( the display glass ) by Apple could be good as the gorilla glass.

But considering the youth of the product could also be normal to have some " production problems ".

And you can prove Apple isn't using Gorilla glass how? It's not the glass scratching, it's the oleophobic coating

and that makes the issue less important? Scratches are scratches at the end of the day pretty much....and that shouldn't happen in such an expensive phone in 2014.

Nope.......but when someone states they know something as fact, they need to back it up. A lot of people would like to know who really makes the glass on iPhone. The most credible sources point to Gorilla. If this thread poster has proof it's not Gorilla, they should offer it, or simply state it's their opinion.

All right but who responds for Apple? i mean, what happens when you have a proof of something and the company simply doesn't back you up?

Many peole got for answer these are "cosmetic " issues and they have proof of it, sorry but that's not nice, we are talking here about backing up things right? honesty?

No, we're talking about two different things.

My take on this still is that to meet production demand, Apple uses glass from Corning (which does not scratch and is up to the durability we've come to expect) and from a 2nd supplier, whose glass is inferior to Corning's and scratches easily. Which glass you end up getting is a lottery, just as it is with the actual LCD panel. Since most iPhone 6/6 Plus units do not scratch, the 2nd supplier's inferior glass is only used to supplement Corning's production capacity.

Once iPhone 6/6 Plus' demand & supply even out, I suspect only Corning's glass will remain in production, so getting an iPhone 6 in say March or thereafter will probably get you a scratch resistant unit without the glass lottery.

iPhone 6S (or 7 or whatever it will be called) probably won't have the scratching issue at all due to Corning's new Gorilla Glass 4. For those upgrading their scratched iPhone 6 to 6S, the 2nd hand resell value of their old phone won't be the best that it could be. For this reason, customers will suffer a financial loss due to the subpar glass on some iPhone 6 units. This is one reason why Apple should address the problem now... but a certain place probably freezes over before that happens.

And still, in the next iPhone keynote, Apple will whip up a slide of Customer Satisfaction that is "unheard of in consumer electronics" 🙂

Profits over listening to the customer — The New Apple Way!

I Have the iPhone 6 plus and today I entered on grocery list to notes. When I got to the store and pulled out my phone the top half of the phone is completely shattered. I was shocked! I didn't drop it or anything like that. I filed a claim with the protection plan and I have to pay $200 for a replacement phone (that is now back ordeted). I'm so disappointed in Apple. I guess I have to stop bragging about how well the phones are made.

i Have been seeing screen protecters that can withstand a hammer hitting it. I wish Apple would have recommended it when I went to the Apple Store to buy a regular screen protecter.

I have had my iPhone 6 Plus for just over 3 weeks and i was cleaning the screen of my iPhone and i noticed lost of small scratches and one large scratch that you can see when on a white screen i had my iPhone 4s for over 2 years without a screen protector or even a case and not a single scratch a little disappointing .

Just like everyone else here, I am extremely disappointed in the new iPhone 6 I just got as a work phone. I should preface this by stating that I am a loyal Moto fan, and have had a succession of Droids over the years for my personal phones, as I don't use my phone for taking pictures I don't really care about Moto's inferior picture quality. Ever since Gorilla glass came into the mix, I have been putting my Moto's, totally unprotected, in my pocket with my keys, and after two years, the glass is always as good as it was on the day I bought the phones. Nary a scratch. Nary a nick. Nothing. Perfect glass. I can't understand why, after only one week, I put the iPhone in my pocket, with nothing else in there, and it came out with scratches on the glass! What a piece of junk.

I got the same issue, i had 2 more iphone before this, and I never seen a single scratch on them, and this after 1 month of use i already have number os scratches around my whole screen as you can see in the picture. I always treated this phone like the one before it. I think if Apple is going to keep with this path, with other number of glitches in software and hardware related issues, is going down like any tech company.
