Q: I cannot connect to App store since updating to iOS 8 on my Iphone 4

I have tried accessing both the App Store and Itunes both just continue to try to connect but never seem to. I have tried to go to Settings to check and when I click app store in settings it completely locks up and then goes back to main screen.

Has anyone else encountered this since the iOS 8 update last week? Is there a work around?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8

Thanks Pamela, this helped with a client's iPad today from a fresh restore.

I found I had to sign out completely and sign back in. It seems that when signing in with the setup assistant it doesn't sync things up right.

    Cheers.

    A few things to do.

Number one, Test your network connection.Just in case, restart your modem and if you have a router do the same. If the Apple tv is communicating Wi-Fi and not direct via a ethernet cable, go to airport utilities and make sure your Airports are up to date if not do and update and restart your airports.

Number two, Disconnect from power ur apple tv for 10 seconds.

Number two, reset to original settings your apple tv reenter passwords id and do updates.

Number three, do u have more than one apple tv? If yes do the same with all you have at the same time. If they are in different locations, have someone just disconnect and reconnect the power on them.

I had the same problem and NO ONE AT APPLE KNEW HOW TO SOLVE IT. APPLE IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE IN PEOPLE KNOWING WHA THEY ARE DOING. THE GENIUSES ARE ARE EXACTLY THAT "GENIUSES". Last night a tech support from the 800 2752273 couldn't answer  a very simple question, I had to laugh and he got upset and hanged up the phone on me. His name is Alfred and works in the iOS division.

I solved the problem like this because one Apple tv in a remote location was either hanging a process of and auto update or some other process.

Last you go to the iTunes Store, go to your ID and just reenter your credit card and verification code and expiration date.

If you can watch movies or listen to music not from purchased but from your library, it is very likely that one or more apple tv's are hanging the connection.

I can tell you that since Yosemite was released, it is the most buggy system I have ver dealt with.

Memory leaks, crashes, the simplicity of Apple has disappears, now we are all driving a Windows system with the looks of Apple and not even so beautiful.

    Also iOS is very messy.

I hoe a lot of fixes and come very soon. Yosemite ***** BIG TIME!!!

My issue is similar but for an iMac desktop.  Up until a few days ago i could open app store no problem.  But today no luck at all.  The only thing it allowed me to do is log out.  I have tried logging back in but the computer does nothing.  My iTunes is fine and have access to my account but no luck with app store.  Any assistance would be great!

I tried this and it's still not allowing me to connect to the iTunes store. I've tried everything, even what PamelaNZ suggested, and I've reset the phone many times. What's going on?! I even changed my password!!!

What exactly did you do TiffCompton?

Can you connect to iTunes Store App? Can you connect to App Store App?

In Settings->iTunes & App Store, what does it say?

Did you do soft reset, or hard reset as well?

I go into the iTunes store to buy a text tone, it asks me to sign in, I sign in with my new password, and it gives me the 'Cannot connect to iTunes store' error. I went into settings, signed in, and it gave me the exact same message.

I did a soft reset, I'm pretty sure. I just turned it off and turned it back on after about a minute.

While PamelaMZ's solution has been working for most, it did not work for me until I shut off wifi.  I was connected to wifi at my work, and the network geniuses have something configured in a firewall or some network security device that was preventing access to the app store, and also prevented access from signing back in after I signed out.

So, if Pam's solution doesn't work, make note of this post.
