Q: iOS8 / iPhone 6 Landscape Text Problem

Anyone experience a problem texting in landscape mode?  Mine works fine but my wife's hangs on the first line of test.  It won't wrap.  Tried rebooting the phone, but problem persists.  On her's anyway.

I have the same issue. But, check please...

If you see the left hand is cover the proximity sensor, and that's why the screen is frozen and this is the reason when your left hand is got up and you can write with your right hand...

the proximity sensor is a reason for this fail

APPLE should to say if is hardware or software issue with your videos.

NerevarReborn, do you already fix? changed for a new iphone?

I'm experiencing the same problem as you have. like you say it is not a huge problem but it get's really annoying.

Sometime, I'm having only, sort of a half keyboard only (see screenshot) or sometime the suggestion bar (on top of keyboard) will blink!!

I've been experiencing the same issue for awhile now, and just this morning I noticed that if I'm in Safari (while holding the phone in Landscape mode w/ the proximity sensor covered or not), if I scroll up slightly so that the URL bar and the other tabs scroll into the margin at the top of the screen out of view, the screen will then respond to my clicks.

I can reproduce the issue 100% of the time if I open Safari while holding the phone in landscape, refreshing the current page, and then trying to tap any of the links on the page. It seems like something in iOS is failing to initialize the "content portion" (the viewable portion of the website you're visiting, below the URL bar) of the page for tapping (though scrolling works) until the user performs another action, i.e. rotating the phone into portrait and back to landscape again and then tapping, scrolling far up enough that the URL bar is not visible, etc...

I can't speak for the other apps (particularly the messages app -- that issue where a recording starts just because one is rotating is bizarre), but for Safari, I can reproduce the issue every single time doing that.

I know it's not much of a fix, but at least scrolling up a bit allows the page to be clickable again.

    I hope this helps somewhat!

    --Mitch

Had the same problem just after changing the accessibility in the General  settings to turn on the Assistive Touch feature. Just turned it off and the problem is solved.

Its definitely the proximity sensor. I was turning the phone and my hand or part of my thumb would be over it not touching it and bam black screen/ I did it 15 times in a row w/o going near it and not one black screen. I was going nuts I just got this phone so for anyone turn the phone w/o going near the sensor and see what happens.

It was happening on my iPhone 5 and now it's happening again on my new 6 Plus. It's a bug, they need to fix it and release a new update.

I am having this same issue with my new iPhone 6 16GB that I purchased three days ago. I am not covering the sensor with my hand when I rotate and it is still going black for a few seconds.  Sometimes the text hangs and and I cant type and have to hit the home button to reset.  VERY annoying.  I will return to Tmobile and post back if a new phone has the same problems.

I had the same problem.  After all the fixes suggested failed, I took it to the apple store and was given a replacement.  I get it home, start syncing it up, and guess what.  Same problem.  It must be an icloud problem?  It's the only thing the two devices have in common.  I can't figure out what else it could be.  I can't find a solution for an icloud bug (if that's what it even is). Thoughts?

I've had the same problem going all the way back to my previous iPhone. Couldn't believe when it followed me over. I also have some Safari screens going blank when scrolling down. Probably not related, but the end result is that I'm constantly fighting against my phone.

I brought it up at the Apple store once and they just shrugged. "That's weird." No further advice. Honestly, with this problem plaguing me for so long I'm leaning toward a competitor for my next phone. I've come to accept it as a miserable part of my digital life. This morning I got so aggravated that I found this thread, but I've come searching for help before and I'm still back here.

I just tried re-calibrating the compass, and for now it seems to have worked. But the issue has always been hit-or-miss. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: iPhone 6, 64gb. Previous phone was a 5, 32gb. Always updated to the latest OS.

I have the same trouble with a frozen keyboard when sending messages in landscape mode. I have a 6+ with the latest iOS. My phone will also sometimes record an audio message when I turn it to landscape. I've tried a straight restore to no effect.
