Is a power adaptor legitimate without a serial #

Purchased a USB Power Adaptor (5W for my iphone) from a seller on eBay.

Looking on the back the model number was A1385 (all my others say A1265)

and there was no serial number (all others I own have a serial number on them).

There is also no green dot sticker, which all my others have.

The seller had a spotless record and many transactions but I am concerned this

might be counterfeit. Is there a way to tell from this information?

There are many power adapters being sold online and in retail stores that look exactly like the standard Apple power adapter for iPhone. Some work very well, although the iOS software will often ID the power adapter as "not supported". Others either just don't work or in-fact could negatively impact the iPhone. I have no idea if Apple distributes Power Adapters without SR#s and without the Green Dot. I have had times where I had to use my Kindle USB charger for my iPhone and each time i Sync with iTunes I connect through a multipart USB device that causes my iPhone iOS to give me the :not-supported" pop-up message. You will have to decide if the seller's customer review percentages are sufficiently high enough to trust the product you purchased. The purpose of the Apple Pop-up message is to protect users from causing damage to their Apple products.

You may have already found your answer, however just in case.

I received the same adapter boxed with my iPhone6. I think Apple is trying to put the green dot issue in the past as that was 6 years ago. All of the adapters since then use the upgraded design where there is no chance at all for the power pins to pull out of the body. (The green dot was for customers to be able to quickly identify the old design adapters for recall and those old power supplies should not be distributed/used anymore)
