Q: Airplay no devices found

Hi, I'm having issues with Apple TV and MBP 2012.

The problem is that some of our MBP's can see the Apple TV's we use and some don't.

We have +300 MacBook Pro's All of them are MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Model 9,2

Also there are some classrooms equiped with an Apple TV.

From my own MBP I can see all of the ATV's in my menubar, while on another MBP I can't find any.

When I go to Display settings within the system preferences I get "Airplay-Displays: No devices detected"

When I play a movie in iTunes I can choose between all of the ATV's, strange....

What have I done so far?

  • On my own MBP nothing, it works like a charm

On the MBP that doesn't show Airplay Mirroring:

  • SMC reset
  • PRAM reset
  • Installed the correct software via internet-recovery 10.8 (also partitioned the HDD)
  • Upgraded to Mavericks from the App Store
  • Also installed the 10.9.5 combo update from Apple
  • reset bonjour through terminal

On the Apple TV:

  • Updated to the latest software
  • reset to factory defaults

Also, when I connect the ATV with ethernet the issue remains. I don't see any ATV showing in the menubar, while on my own (good working MBP) they do!

Any help would be much appreciated.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Litte note: When the user of the MBP is at home the ATV is visible in the menubar

only Macs which has a video card which in realtime can have their video card convert what is to be displayed into a H.264 stream will work with airplay mirror which is both audio and image and located in the menu

    which models are shown here

About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X

macbook pros have 2 video cards a low power intel onboard one which is slow and a amd or nvidia one which is fast but use more power

when working on batt it use the intel one maybe the intel one is not able to convert what is to be displayed into a h264 steam in which case the solution would be to connect the mac to ac when using airplay mirror

    Hi Rudegar,

    Is your reply auto-generated?

On every forum/ post I read there is a link to supported Airplay models, I'm pretty sure my Mac's are supported as you can see in my post.

These Mac's have Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Display Modes: Dual display extended, video mirroring, and AirPlay Mirroring
