Verizon iPhone 6 Signal Problem

I have an iPhone 6 64gb on Verizon Wireless. I have noticed a problem with my cell signal/reception. In an area where I have 5 bars in LTE, it will seemingly drop to 2 at random. Then, if I make a call, the bars will come back up to 5 after the call is complete. It will do this multiple times throughout the day. The other day I had 5 bars in LTE and tried to make a phone call. When I did, the phone dropped to 1 bar and I got multiple 'call failed' messages trying to complete the call. After I hung up, the bars would go back up to 5 in LTE. A couple of days ago, I had full bars in LTE but could not do anything with data. I had to shut my phone off and restart to get the data to work again. Is anyone else having this or a similar issue?

I use 8.1.2.

I get dropped and occasional garbled calls.

I get 1 bar 40% of the time, 2 bars 40%, and 3 bars 20%.

I have spend 24 hours on phone with Verizon.

Verizon rarely calls back when they schedule a callback,

although there were some nice exceptions.

I have tickets at the highest request level with no idea if they will fix anything.

My time is running out on the trial.

ATT just gave me a MicroCell when they were having network problems.

Verizon couldn't imagine doing this.

I was offered one at 1/2 price to plug Verizon's network problem.

The support was not even properly educated.

3 out of the 10 Level 1 support I talked to told me

Verizon does not support voice and data over LTE,

leading to further time loss.

I'm tempted to say something rude about phone support and network operations at this point.

The Pine St retailer in SF was good however.

Just going to tack on here that I'm having a similar problem with my Sprint iphone 6+. Just got it yesterday and phone calls today have been a nightmare. Low service (I usually have five bars now I have two), crackly, digitized walky-talky sound, and dropped calls. Add to that, for half the morning I couldn't place calls (did a clean restore which fixed that -- except now I don't receive calls). I'm about to tear my hair out.

Most certainly has to be a software issue. My wife has the 5S that had 5 bars consistenty at home until updating to IOS8. My daughter had a 5 that had 5 bars at home too. Just updated her to a 6 today and 2 to 3 bars at most which is what my wifes 5S is now getting with ios8. I have a 5 still running ios6 and have 5 bars and no call or reception issues ever. Unless this problem is resolved soon I'll be keeping my 5 for a bit longer.

Hello,

I have been having a similar issue with my iPhone 6 Plus. I used to get 4-5 Bars in my house with my iPhone 5, but now I get around 1-3 bars with my iPhone 6 Plus. This comes as a shock to me because the antenna is bigger and I have a OtterBox Defender on my phone.

Possible solutions:

1. I found putting it into Airplane mode and then turning it off helps for a little while but it's not a solid fix.

2. Rebooting but still only works for a little bit.

Hope this helps, please let me know what Verizon or the Apple Store says.

Observations since my last update:

I've had LTE turned off completely for several weeks and am still having significant voice and data connectivity issues. Dropping calls several times a day out in the open in the SF Bay Area/Peninsula - and I noticed yesterday, while out and about in downtown Santa Barbara, CA, that my cellular data connectivity was crawling - and the home screen icons indicated I had one bubble/bar strength with .......wait for it....... LTE !!!#$#

I checked my cellular data settings, which 'confirmed' cellular data was enabled and Enable LTE was Off. I toggled Enable LTE to On, then to Off again. The home screen icons still showed LTE was on. I put the phone in Airplane Mode - counted to 10 - then disabled. The home screen icons showed no bubbles/bars and toggled between LTE, Verizon, 1X, 3G, and then finally landed and stayed on no filled bubbles and Verizon 1x.

My son, who inherited my iPhone 5 when I 'upgraded', was sitting directly next to me and had 3 bubbles/bars Verizon 3G.

I keep telling my ex-husband to sell the rest of his Apple stock from when we both worked there for over 8 years in the '80s and '90s. I hope he listens so we can afford to keep our son in college.

Sorry to be so cynical.

I Had the exact same issue I had to install a network extender from Verizon but that did not help me on the road. I was able to fix the problem permanently. It was simple solution after dealing with Verizon for 20 years. I finally switched to AT&T and have not experienced one dropped call in 2 months. I Don't even have a network extender with AT&T. Plus I can surf the web while on the phone not connected to wifi. If you have not seen the new coverage maps take a look at it wow what an improvement Verizon current advertising is false AT&T has the best coverage now. I am thinking it's because of GM introducing built in AT&T Wi-Fi into many of theiy15 model vehicles. GM even switched it up and left Verizon behind. Just saying...

Prior to switching and paying to break contract Verizon replaced my IPhone 4 times with defective exchanges. When I went to the Apple Store they told me they could not help me and needed to go back to Verizon becau the replacement iPhone they gave me had a non Apple display on it. Then Verizon told me I had to go back to Apple since they warranty the phone. Long story short now I am an AT&T customer. best move I ever made in 20 years and not one bit of remorse!!!

I also have a iphone 6 that has the same problems with Verizon. At first they told me it was the location in which I lived. I quickly realized that was not the case. AT&T had the same problems as well. Not sure what the heck is wrong with these carriers, but this crap needs to stop. Not sure how AT&T can't work properly in the city they are headquartered and also cant figure out why Verizon gets 2 bars for signal on a good day in a major market. These carriers are a bunch of turds.

Just started having this problem with my IPhone 6. I don't make many calls but noticed my email, facebook and other things do not update or struggle because there are only 2 bars most of the time. I did a network reset and it gives me 5 bars and LTE for just a few seconds and drops back down to 2. Very frustrating. No Apple store near by so not sure what to do about it. Any resolutions yet? The update 8.3 seems to be what caused my problem to start. I didn't have any problem until this week when I updated to 8.3. My husband has an IPhone 6 also and did not do the update yet and is having no problems. I think Apple probably just added more issues with the 8.3 update. They will probably get bombarded with this issue now. I hope they send out a fix soon. If not, when I visit my son in New Jersey in May, I will be going to get it replaced. Good luck all.

I too have this issue. I have had 2 replacement phones and a replacement SIM card. I got my phone in December. iPhone 6 Silver, 64GB. If I turn off the LTE I can actually make calls. With LTE Data turned on I drop about 30% of my calls, with Voice & Data turned on about 70% of my calls drop. I am using my phone in my office, same place I used my iPhone 5s and 4 without issues. My husband has the iPhone 5c and does not have any issues. I was originally told my Verizon support over the phone I could not use LTE Voice&Data, I told the customer service representative that was a bit ridiculous seeing as how that was one of the reasons I upgraded when I did. Verizon sent me a replacement phone with the same issue. Then the Apple store replaced the phone with a brand new one....same issue. Currently working with a very nice Verizon representative in my area who tried replacing the SIM card, have not seen much improvement. I am going back in later this week and they may send someone to my house and home office to measure signal strengths at my house. Oh I also purchase the Verizon signal booster. That worked ONLY in my office, and I can ONLY have the LTE Data on, no voice and data. So I would have to switch back and forth all the time and if I left my office and wandered to my kitchen which is not that far away the signal would drop again! Sort of defeats the purpose of a cell phone......I asked to revert back to the iPhone 5s but since I sold it I cannot do that. Best I can do is I have a child on the family plan and they are eligible for the Droid upgrade, so I could take their upgrade and then give them my iPhone 6!

The past week and a half me too! It started with what you said, losing bars are significantly less bars (io8 16gb iphone 6) but the past few days ive had NONE. No service at all. It either says no service or that it is searching for service. Three days straight i haven't had more than 30 minutes of service total. It's been a pain. I had to call from an outside number for help and it took me 15 minutes to get to a rep because the phone numbers didn't match...like obviously. I CAN'T CALL FROM MY PHONE. I HAVE NO **** SERVICE. They are replacing my SIM today. Hopefully, that solves the problem or an apple store is gonna be seeing my face soon.
