Q: So does that mean Apple has simply abandoned a proprietary paid for app? How will this affect iPhoto from Mavericks to Yosemite?

That has happened before - remember iWeb?

But this time Apple has provided a migration to the successor app, Photos.

For iPhoto and Aperture on the Mac is not much known (Aperture is Dead. Long Live Photos! | ApertureExpert), only, that there will be a "Photos" for MacOS X.

anyone with Yosemite Beta in the loop?

Beta testers are bound by a non-disclosure agreement, and beta-issues must to be discussed in the public forums, or we will be in trouble. Neither are we allowed to speculate, sorry.

Well I have to like it because you just provided more info than Apple in this case. As I am not a tech and "just a user" since 2006 I have been through a few changes and often not for the better... Photo or the iOS8 Photos does not appear as capable as iPhoto under iOS7 but admittedly a lot of features were added.

Thank you about the beta info. I understand and look forward to the official updates than. Thank you for the Aperture link. interesting to get a pro view on it this CHANGE, which is the only constant, right?

    Thanks,
