Oct 24, 2015 2:37 PM in response to DaveTheMusicianby Stephen_TX,This has been a recurring problem for me. I have photos grouped into albums (folders) through both my Windows PC and iPhone/iPad. Whenever there's an iOS update, the iPhone/iPad albums survive intact., but certain PC photos get duped or end up in different albums, sometimes with duplicate names.
My fix, as suggested by others is to connect the iPhone to iTunes, sync, and then disconnect, and it's fixed. But that doesn't work for the iPad. The only solution has been to synchronize iTunes and my iPad with the Photos Select Folders option checked, but then don't select any. That deletes all the non-iOS albums. Then re-sync, with all albums selected. That straightens things out.
But I'd sure like a permanent solution. This is an on-going bug between a PC (at least W7 and W10) and iOS users.

Sep 2, 2016 9:27 AM in response to rbdancerby mamapants3,Why was this answer so hard to find? I have been trying to do this for a LONG time now and there are programs that you can pay for that will do this. WHY? Why would anyone pay when the fix was so simple. Thanks a thousands times! I just deleted 850 duplicate photos.
