Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

SSimilar issues using wifi as far as not connecting to servers. Crashing apps this update is an unmitigated disaster and another example of poor quality control which was something they used to excel at

Despite the desperate attempts of the Apple fanboys on this thread to convince us otherwise, upgrading from iOs7 to iOs8 on the iPad 2 has created problems for many, many iPad 2 users. I am one of them. My iPad was close to unusable after the upgrade and despite trying to roll back to iOs7, I was too late and Apple quickly rendered that impossible 😠 Here's what I've had to do to get my iPad back to something like a usable device.

  1. Reset back to factory install. I.e. Backup everything and reinstall the OS back to its factory state. I've only reinstalled the bare minimum of apps I.e. Those I use on a regular basis.
  2. Change the settings to reduce motion and reduce transparency as suggested in this thread. That helped quite a bit.

I can now use my iPad without wanting to throw it against a wall, but it still isn't what it used to be. Thankfully the frequent loss of my cell connection seems to have been solved at least. Apple has dropped the ball and I think users have a right to be frustrated and disappointed after paying a premium price for what used to be a premium product.

Purchsed IPad mini wifi on 2nd Nov and straightway upgraded to IOS 8. This is worst device I used ever and biggest disappointment....no Bluetooth connectivity with any device..tried Galxy Tab,Galaxy 5,Nexus 5,Blackberry,Redmi1s..Pin Number appears but "Bluetooth not connected". Too slow in every aspect..like many ,had big expectations from Apple, but feel cheated ,,,big let down..even my Redmi1s (₹5700/$95) seems hundred time better than IPad..I don't know whether this is IOS 8 Problem or Faulty piece. Informed to Apple ...I don't know about other countries, but here in India we don't expect any after sale support or customer care from any supplier..

You may not expect but by the sounds of your issue you require it, an millions of other similar devices are having no issues. What troubleshooting steps have you taken to date?

It appears that the mods and the apologists on this forum work for Apple, as my first reply to your unhelpful response was considered a "rant". It would appear that being too critical here will get you bumped. Fine, if that's how they want to play it I will respond with my wallet Like many others are doing.

In any case I'll repeat my advice to other readers: this works for iPad 2, for me at least.

1. Restore the OS to factory. This means wiping your iPad.

2. Turn on reduce movement (it could be an off setting , either way set it to reduce movement)

3. Turn on reduce transparency

Detailed instructions on how to do these things are elsewhere in this thread. Unfortunately all of the 'simple' fixes seem to be temporary at best. Resetting network settings didn't work for me, nor did the weird "pinch" solution. Apart from lagging a bit and some sites crashing regularly on Safari my iPad is now much better than at any other time on iOs8

Dont forget to backup first unless you're happy wiping all of the content on your iPad for good, never to be seen again.

LOL ... you would be one of those types who would rant at Ford Motor Company, if you had a Ford ... because Ford made it impossible for you to put wings on your car ... :-) ... despite the fact that it would be unsafe, unwise and absolutely ridiculous, and that they had never allowed it!

Likewise, with Apple who has never had it set up to do that, had never supported it and knows it would be unwise, unsafe and create all sorts of unintended problems ... you'll complain about that, too.

It's pretty simple for the "Terms of Use" for this forum. It can be all boiled down to just this, except for "moderator issues" and informing people of what is allowed and not allowed.

It's simply that one user asks for a solution to a technical question that he can implement himself. Another user gives the solution to that technical question, so that the first user can implement it. If nothing is found here, then the user should go to Apple Support and seek their help. And THAT is the full extent of the purpose for these forums ... nothing else.

If you are getting bumped, it's simply because you are not doing the above. Pay attention to the "Terms of Use" and follow them, and you won't get bumped ... it's as simple as that.

Terms of Use ...
