Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

SSimilar issues using wifi as far as not connecting to servers. Crashing apps this update is an unmitigated disaster and another example of poor quality control which was something they used to excel at

A specific issue or problem you have will get lost in a larger thread and you won't get the exposure on the main forum. What you need to do is to go to the main forum page for iPad, then "title" the question with an abbreviated headline which is appropriate for the described problem, then on the main entry page describe the problem in detail and give the particulars for your device and any other relevant details for the problem.

Doing it that way then gets you the exposure for your specific problem and gets other users engaging you just for that ... and hopefully you'll find a user here who may provide you with a good answer.

Now I'm really confused and offended. I had posted a link to pretty much the same article about them working on an 8.1.1 to address these very real issues we are all having on our iPad 2 and you removed it. I posted this to give us some hope that Apple is working on it and you removed it. And if it's a "Terms of Use Agreement" issue save me some time and copy and paste the part where I was not in line.

You are definitely confused ... because I am an iPad user just like you are and users cannot remove posts here. However "moderators" can as that's their job to maintain the Terms of Use here.

As far as being offended ... I wouldn't be ... and I've had a few of my own posts removed by the moderators, too ... :-) ...

That's my hope too Jwp721. If not, you will have to try a complete restore if you haven't already. What I have learned from this whole process is NOT to install new versions of the iOs until a few weeks after its release and after I've had a chance to evaluate the general public opinion. iOs7 should have taught me that being an early adopter is not always a good thing!!

And who is moderating moderators? To whom we can complain about them being offensive or off topic?

About iOS8 on ipad 2, to be honest, I have noticed already a performance drop when going from iOS6 -> iOS7 on ipad 2. So logic told me that iOS8 will be even worse. I guess many people did not realize how bad it can be so in these cases Apple should allow people do downgrade. That would be easy solution.

Right? Everyone will be happy here I am sure.

In the Terms of Use given for this forum, they have a place you can write ... :-) ...

I have two iPad 2s and they both were almost unusable after upgrading to iOS 8. Upgrading to iOS 8.1 did not help either. I did a full erase and restore through iTunes but that did not resolve the problems.

After a rather long visit to the local Genius Bar and some evaluation of the error messages within the diagnostic section of the OS, it was determined that there was either an app or some data that became corrupted and was causing all of the issues. Their suggestion was to do a full reset of the iPad through iTunes but this time, set it up as a new unit, and then reinstall the apps I wanted directly from the app store.

I have now done that on both iPads and both are back to running smoothly. While they are a little slower than prior OS versions we need to remember that we are using the lowest powered hardware that is supported by the OS. But they are definitely usable. As an added bonus, there were a lot of apps I never used and decided not to reinstall at this time so I have gained a lot of extra space on the iPads.

I would suggest doing the restore and see how it works. Hope this helps.

Regards,

David
