Q: Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

I've been using only Apple since 1989. I defend them and talk them up often.   This update has shaken me and made me wonder what's happening.  I take my ipad2 to the Genius bar tomorrow. I have followed all the tips here and had 3 Apple tech. support calls so far.... still freezes up, won't wake up, won't respond to finger swipes .... sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

Wish me luck tomorrow.   I hope I leave the store with a smile on my face and a functional iPad.

It's like this ... you think hard drives are wonderful devices, until one fails on you. Well, hard drives have always failed, all the time - except that you may have never experienced it before. You just overestimated what your realistic experience should be ... you see.

And computer upgrades are wonderful things with all that added functionality and new features ... until your whole computer system crashes and you can't get it going again and you have to start over again. It was "fine" -until- it happened to you ... you see. You overestimated what your chances were to not have that computer system crash so profoundly.

And, with all the iOS updates, you've never had a really major problem all this time, even though you've always read about all those others who struggled with their problems for a while. All of a sudden, you're in that group. You've overestimated your chances at staying out of that group, and here you are now.

It goes like this all the time ...  it's just your turn now ... :-) ...

I installed iOS 8 on my iPad 2 by restoring to factory and then from backup, and I have the Safari slowdown-and-freeze problems.  I'm going to try Chrome and see if that works better.  This is really annoying, because web-browsing is most of what I do on the iPad.  I'm using Chrome right now, and can barely use this editor -- at least it's  not locking up, it just randomly doesn't work with this web page editor; selecting the "bullet point" icon above resets the editor, and I can type again.  Pshew!

Very same issues as above, plus, the mobile connection is lost suddenly and is only restored after a hard reset on my iPad.  Hope Apple can fix this troubles soon...  This is very annoying and it makes think if it's worth to continue using Apple devices, specially when they are very unresponsive to these complaints!!!

Apple is VERY RESPONSIVE to complaints about some problem in your iPad ... when ... you contact the OFFICIAL place for Apple Support ... :-) ...

However, this forum is NOT APPLE SUPPORT ... in case you didn't know. Apple says it DOES NOT DO Apple Support here, so you're simply not going to get anything from Apple here. You need to go to the official channel for Apple Support to get the support that is the highest rated in the industry ...

Apple is decidedly UNRESPONSIVE to complaints in regards to the major malfunctions experienced by their tablet owners, since the implementation of iOS8! We responders, in this forum, are simply venting our aggravations BECAUSE of Apple's poor handling of the situation. I've written them numerous times; many here have written them; Apple has REFUSED to acknowledge the woeful problems we are experiencing. Apple Support has proven to be utterly useless....even if you fork over the ridiculous "Genius" fees. This is the fault of Apple's OS - NOT HARDWARE MALFUNCTIONS, and THEY should be jumping through hoops to fix the NUMEROUS issues causing our less-than-newly-purchased-devices to be rendered nearly USELESS when using the new operating system. We, as users of their products, should not be forced to search IN VAIN for workaround solutions. My tablet was perfect one day, then SCREWED the next, and I want Apple to remedy every problem I am experiencing. This is NOT the way we Apple-product-owners expect the Apple Corporation to respond; with INDIFFERENCE! So, please....I beg of you: just stop trying to justify Apple, and their "Support" team, because we're not going for it.

This is a "rant" and not a tech support question or provided solution. If you want to rant ... Apple has a spot for you ...

Well, I stand by Ken... unfortunatelly thats a correct way to describe Apple (and many other companies), they just care about selling thier products and forget about customer service or clients rights!

Also, you can give positive feedback to posts here to avoid the 'ranting' against your company, given that you seem to be a geek in these gadgets & matters!

It's ... very simply ... a violation of the "Terms of Use" of this forum, which was put into place as EXCLUSIVELY for "users helping other users" in that a user posts a problem which seeks a "solution" from another user. And if there is no solution that works, given by another user here ... then Apple directs you over to Apple Support. If you merely want to "rant" ... go to Apple Feedback.

And Apple makes it very clear that rants and opinions and/or statements about Apple (such as has been given) is a violation of the Terms of Use for "this forum".

The botom line, is that you're violating the Terms of Use no matter "what you think" ... that's just it ...

Nonsense. Apple has distroyed so many products by faulty firmware and the company is doing nothing to fix the damage they have made to users. This is perfect channel to express the frustration. Just in case someone at Apple would care...

You should reset to the factory default setup through iTunes, as all the iPads being sold at Apple right now ... do have a functioning camera and they are in factory default condition ... :-) ...

My comment was not a "rant", as you so called it. It was a completely OBJECTIVE response to your repetitive, false, and biased commendation for Apple, in regards to the VERY legitimate complaint which, we here on this forum, are discussing openly. It is EQUALLY as valid a comment as any statement you have made. Furthermore: nothing I have said is an untruth, or in anyway contradicts the general opinion of the iOS8 problem sufferers who peruse this thread. My ONLY objectives are to share information and iOS8 opinions, and to ultimately get the developers of the operating system to make amends. Why, oh why, Star Traveler, are you against my simple mantra: "Apple - Please Make It Right"?
