Q: Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

I Am having all the issues mentioned.  So, I restored it to factory settings, put minimum apps on it a almost no photos.  Still having same problems.  Does Apple plan this so well buy a new iPad?  Makes me want to go Samsung.

    Just chipping my 2c in.

I had all the problems on my ipad2 and at last bit  the bullet and made a restore as new iPad in recovery mode. A real pain, but most of the problems have now gone, but slowly the y are creeping back. Gestures doesn't work in Mail, Digg  and Twitter ( pinching)

Sometimes It freezes again in Mail and Safari, but overall performance is better.

Maybe off topic, but I could use a tool like Onyx or similar maintenance app to clean my ipad2, or any iPad or iPhone for that matter. I find Apple has taken a little too much control of my devices, but I can appreciate Apple not wanting users to screw up the software ;o)

It took hours for me to restore the iPad and find old passwords etc for apps.

BTW, I got rid of a load of apps I haven't used for ages, so an opportunity to clean up your iPad ;o)

This article covers most of the solutions which seem to work.  So for anyone who is looking for help try these.

He's not any more "special" as you put it than any other user, except for the fact that he has helped a whole lot of other users ... which is quite an accomplishment in and of itself.

What he is doing in injecting a MAJOR DOSE of REALITY into a thread that is BEREFT of reality!

Was that done through the iTunes program on your computer? And then, once it was reset ... did you keep it in the "factory default state" and file a trouble ticket with Apple to address the issue?

Where do you take this data from? My impression is most of the users that upgraded have some issues, hence this discussion here is ongoing.

Here's what I posted about that on another thread ...

You know the issue is barely a "blip on the radar" when you can't even find any significant number of news articles about the problem. I can't find any kind of "press coverage" about any kind of major problem with the installed user base for iOS 8. I've seen a spot article here and there ... but as far as a "real issue" is concerned and a large number of press articles shouting about the "big problem" ... there's NOTHING!

It's hard to gather statistics on NOTHING ... :-) ...

It's like I said above in another post ...

"The number of users who have problems with iOS 8 are so minimally small, they don't even "rate" a percentage of anything in the tech news. As far as the tech news is concerned, overall for the iOS community, these people don't even exist. It's difficult to get percentages from tech news articles when these users "don't even merit any news" ... :-) ..."

    [ ... ]

THAT must be the explanation for "Bend-gate" where NINE CUSTOMERS out of the 10 MILLION sold ... reported bending phones ... LOL ... Just look at the press coverage for THAT and compare it to the press coverage for any of the problems stated here .... remember it was NINE CUSTOMERS ... so that gives you an idea what just NINE will generate on the Internet.

Now ... once again ... how many news articles do you have, as compared to the NINE and those news articles?

I Did the restore through iTunes and did it a factory restore as though it was a new computer.  How do you file a report?

I did not know that Facebook was a product of Apple. Have you tried Facebook's feedback forums?
