Q: Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

    I Did the restore through iTunes and did it a factory restore as though it was a new computer.  How do you file a report?

    I presume you did the appropriate backup. I'm going to include the links for the backup so you can see what things are saved and what things are not saved. You'll need to understand and know that. Then the reset to factory default would have been done with the iTunes program on the desktop computer. When that is done, you don't restore your backup just yet, but you run your iPad in its factory default state to check it out. If there is some problem, you keep it in that state for contacting Apple Support, and let them know that there is none of your data on it. You'll getting a ticket number for your Apple asport call, and you'll continue to use that for any follow ups or escalation of Apple Support to another level. You keep at it until the problem is solved.

    Thank you. Does your typing match your speed? Mine also shuts down arbitrarily. I am beginning to hate my iPad.  I've also lost some of my mail.

    IOS 8.1 has not improved the problems. Do we know if another fix is coming out?

    I Am running the latest update as of yesterday when I restored.  I really don't understand why we all have to make any changes.  Apple should fix it or let us go back to iOS7.

    Just wanted to add my frustration to the ipad 2 not working properly following he latest ios 8 update. All was fine before and now even writing this comment is not a smooth process with the screen freezing and glitchy on nearly every word written. It is such a shame that when a customer takes the initial decision spend more money buying an apple ipad rather than an alternative product they are forgotten about a few years later and the investment is focused on newer versions and winning new customers. It is not a product worthy of a high price tag if it only has a lifespan of only a few years.

    Let me remind you Apple that it is the early adopters of your products that have made you the success you are today and to ignore those loyal customers in search of new will mean they too will go in search of other fruits.

    I don't enjoy using my iPad like I used to do. I teach older people how to use tablets, mostly iPads. I've had so many problems during teaching sessions with iPads crashing, running slow, not responding and so on,  that it makes teaching very difficult. Apple doesn't seem to care about its reputation as being the best any more.

    I Just did a full system restore, for the third time.  I came across a post that said after connecting to iTunes, hold down the two buttons to do a hard reset, only keep holding them until the computer takes over.  I did that, followed the on screen prompts and let it do its thing.  I had to go out so I left it running.  When I came home it he restored the iPad.  So far it seems to be running well.  I guess time will tell.  Of course, now that it has reset, I can't find that post.

    As long as Apple identifies a problem that definitely comes from the iOS itself, Apple will issue a fix for it. You can be assured of that. However, one must be careful to note that not all issues are related to something that the iOS has a problem with. There are many things which can be fixed yourself ... it could be something like a corrupted file. Or, like some other users are reporting, a bad app ... that once they got rid of it, the problems went away.

    BUT ... there are reports in the tech news that there is another bug fix coming out. And, in fact, I would expect another two or three, actually.

    You'll have to arrange to use one, then ... from a friend or relative. You MIGHT be able to get the Apple Store to do that for you, although I'm not entirely sure on that.

    When you talk to Apple about the necessity of having a computer to do certain things, they say that the iPad is INTENDED (and designed so) to be used with a computer. Now, I know a lot of people may be using the iPad WITHOUT a desktop computer, and that is fine, except for the very few tIke's when Apple designed it to be used with a desktop computer. This is one of those few times.

    I don't enjoy using my iPad 2 any more either. Since iOS 8 it takes too long and is so glitchy. Up until the upgrade it was the first device I reached for -- not any more. Now it sits on the shelf. I'm going to cancel the 3G because I'm not using it enough. Really disappointed with Apple on this.

    Should buy Samsung instead. Apple would be phrased out by Samsung for sure. simply samsung offers:

    1. greater flexibility for the hardware and software upgrade;

    2. better value as it is a hardware manufacturer;

    3. open to meet many other industry standards.
