Q: Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

    petermac87,

Let me ask you this. Why would Apple stop signing the iOS 7 series for my iPhone 4 and ipad2? I just took my late 2008 MBP back to Mountain Lion OS after having issues with Mavericks. I find this a heavy handed corporate move that they won't allow you to downgrade to a functioning iOS on an older device. It even has the scent of a lawsuit in the fact that you have a product and the corporation won't allow you to have it function with the compatible iOS that was intended for that product.

At this point I'd let the small app builders make the decision to adapt there apps to the latest iOS. And if it's incompatible then you can make the decision to upgrade your iOS or even by a newer product. But this scenario is that the base product won't work like it should. Because you won't let me downgrade the iOS. I'd rather be hanging out with my 8 year old daughter then be jacking around with all this just to get my iPad 2 to work like it used to. I'm losing faith in Apple and try to have a civil response.

Give your feedback to Apple, not me.

Just post your link to your evidence of that and everybody will believe you.

You forgot a 4 digit password? Try writing it down next time.

I think the only thing you will be able to do is a forced reset of your iPad and start from scratch. Hopefully, you will have backed it up before you lost it a year ago and will be able to restore from that backup. Starting from scratch on an older iPad is virtually mandatory with iOS8. If you need help with how to start from scratch, just let me know.

    good luck,

I think I calculated that there are about 10,077,000 combinations of basic numerals and letters that coud be used. And I may be slight by a few factors of 36 on my math. So, sure, after a year, forgetting something MIGHT be possible.

No question about it. Apple could care less now. This would never have happened on Jobs watch. Apple ruins my Ipad with IOS8 garbage then tries to charge me $29 to troubleshoot a problem they created? How convenient. Create problems only to charge customers to fix them, genius, evil too.

I have always had a LARGE respect for Apple, I started using the Mac in the early 80s, I learned allot and vowed that I would never use a windows PC, now I only use windows machines due to my engineering career but after I purchased my I-Pad2 I was ounce again a Apple fan. Unfortunately after the OS Update my I-Pad2 runs like an old "386" cpu windows machine, I get way ahead of the I-pad when typing and I type with two fingers, the browsing experience *****!

I figured as "sue happy" as Americans are that their would be a class action suite attempting to force Apple to allow OS downgrades but I have not heard of anything. Then I thought I would have an Apple Genius tell me why my I-Pad2 is soooo slow but this would only waist more of my time. I gave up on my I-Pad2, gave it to my wife and she uses it as a Facebook machine, she said it's OK.

My next tablet will be an Android, if I hate it only then will I consider a new I-Pad.

Tell Apple. It does not bother us what you do. It's your life. Apple seem to be doing OK

Same kind of headache here in China. If the issue remains unsolved for weeks or months, Apple and the Foxcom will lose the core batch of users at the professional level and its product will be turned into game pad for kids only. It took me two whole days to figure out this ipad-1, I brought back from CA which had been working very well until three days ago, why on earth its 3G function is just gone or becomes frustratingly unstable. All messed up and it just is on its way of becoming piece of trash. Sorry for the rough wording but it is the fact. Just hate to see every 5 or 6 years whole bunch of pads are turned into industrial garbage due to this stupid upgrading of IOS systems. BTW, Apple dealer in China did the system rehab for me, told me the data would be gone through the process which i fully understood, but it turned out the software of pages, numbers and keynotes I bought years ago in dollars that worked very well were all gone. Well, I don't mind to buy new ones to fill the blank up, but the fact is: few or almost zero office software for Ipad 1 (IOS 5.1.1) available in the store. Ipad 1 is old alright but it works well. Why on earth all software for IOS 5.1.1 is all gone?
