Q: ipad 4th gen rear camera not working

The rear camera is black when I try to use it. The front facing camera is fine, but when I switch to the rear camera it's pitch black. I did a restore, and set it up as a new iPad. I'm also running iOS 8.0.

There's a section in this article for troubleshooting the camera. Note that even though it says it's for the iPhone, the troubleshooting for the iPad are the same. Of course check out any steps you haven't done.
