If you take it to an actual Apple store they should be able to look up the original purchase date based on your serial number. Since your late Mom bought it, sorry about that by the way, you could have issues with identification to receive that kind of information. I've actually had to do this and it wasn't much of a problem since I knew the guy who had originally bought it and could supply his name.

Apple definitely keeps track of this for warrantee issues.

You can check the warranty status here, including the date the warranty expires if it's in the future. The exact purchase date shouldn't matter at all. What matters is the warranty status.

Were you able to find anything about the computer from the serial number,

If so, did you look, in Apple support MacBook Pro identifier page...?

•How to identify MacBook Pro models

If you had access to whomever handled her financial information from the

approximate time the item was purchased, they should be able to find that

one item at the approximate price-point; likely would have been bought via

a credit card or perhaps debit card. Less likely, cash.

Contact an Apple Store or other Authorized Apple sales support or service:

    {info from http://mactracker.ca download database application}

Since Apple Inc does not appear to hold record of a Retailer's sales receipts

you'd have to consider where within her area of travel the Apple authorized

reseller and service centers are located. The bank info, if one had access to

that angle, would provide a location, date, and a few other details. That is a

secure database and only authorized persons, one handling an estate or who

had power-of-attorney over records, etc, may be one to ask.

PS: If the computer was in her name, any AppleCare plan or extended service

coverage may be a matter of Apple to determine if any residual coverage is

in effect on your possession, if not officially transferred to you.

So, in the sense of your question and self-reply, No is a likely answer here at

ASC discussions, where primary basic support is user-to-user volunteer folks.

    Good luck & happy computing!
