Major OS8 Problems

OS8 will cause it to crash, operate like molasses, won't sync calendars and contacts, takes an hour just to sync with my computer. Many apps now don't work, stall or crash. I have NO cellular service now on my iPad (my iPhone, sitting right next to it, has 3G). My entire iPad is now useless and Apple cannot help. I have been on the phone with tech support over 4 hours in the past two days. AND, once you load this highly flawed system, you can NEVER go back to System 7.

Anyone have any comments, ideas or solutions?

I foolishly downloaded OS8 on my iPhone 4S. It not only greyed out my wifi button making it impossiblr to use wifi, but bluetooth connection doesn't work either. I reset the phone to factory settings but that did nothing apart from loose all my photos and contacts. OS 8 was still on after too. Apple say it is a problem but the download only brought the fact the hardware was faulty to the fore, but not being under warranty , the repair would cost £166 that I would have to pay. Totally unacceptable. If the problem was known and they knew it would cause problems on older models, why have it bob up on iTUNES for download.

Don;t download it guys, APPLE aren't admitting culpability and it will cost you a fortune to put right!!

Yes My 4S phone did the same thing, all messed up now not usable. (I AM REALY NOT HAPPY WITH APPLE FOR THIS) Apple store reloaded software, lost all contacts (had saved other info) same thing, can't backup or restore now. Verizon store can't do anything but sell me a new phone. (If I have to buy a new phone because of this BS it will not be APPLE again) Mabe a Samsung?

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

Just FYI, it did NOT work ... that is, it worked once (last night), but is not continuing to sync. I'm about ready to throw the phone away, switch to the Samsung droid and use a different cloud. I'm so utterly disillusioned with Apple's inability to produce decent software. Toys, sure, but anything useFUL? Apple is useLESS. And they offer no help at all. Their online solution for me was to mail in my phone. Oh, really? What am I supposed to do about a phone in the meantime?

I've decided there is no permanent solution to this ridiculous problem, and Apple obviously could care less, as it's been going on for a long time. The number of hours I've spent trying to fix this is scary.

So, like I said, I'm looking forward to leaving the iPhone behind. I just wish enough people would do it to wake up Apple. But I guess too many iPhone users just use it to play, not for business -- otherwise, you'd think sales would've plummeted.

This also happens with my Reminders, another useful business tool rendered useless by the incompetents producing Apple's software.
