Faces keep reappearing in iPhoto Find Faces

I have a new MacBook Air, version 10.9.5 with iPhoto 9.5.1. I have gone through all my photos and unchecked all the boxes for naming faces because I don't want them to keep popping up while I'm working with my photos. However, I notice they keep reappearing in the Find Faces board even though they have been unchecked in the actual photos. It says I have 1,532 unnamed faces! I can ignore these because they no longer appear on the photos themselves, but I'm wondering if they are taking up space on my computer.
