Q: 10.4 reinstall

I think I made a big boo boo today. I'm trying to get an eMac ready to sell. I used a 10.4 install DVD and wiped the drive. When I went to install the 10.4 OS, it said it couldn't find 10.3 or earlier on the HD and thus couldn't install 10.4. Seems my 10.4 disc is an Upgrade DVD. Now what do I do? I don't have the original eMac discs. I have several iBook G4 discs, but I don't believe they will work on an eMac. Am I screwed?

Yep, Upgrade Discs do that.

If you have another Mac with Firewire & a FW cable, put the iBook Install Disc in the iBook, boot the this eMac into Target mode...

See if you can install to the eMac which will look like a FW drive.

It may not work as it may not have the drivers for an eMac, but if not, perhaps then the Upgrade Disc will work in the eMac.

Thanks to your suggestion, for the heck of it I tried installing from the iBook G4 instal discs on eht eMac, and it worked! I now have 10.3 on the eMac and am upgrading to 10.4. Thanks a lot for suggesting that. I really didn't think it would work.
