Have you contact Verizon and had them check to make sure your account is properly set up? Sometimes a change of equipment can cause a glitch. Have you tried resetting your network settings? Settings>General>Reset Network Settings. What steps have you taken?

I spent over one hour with Verizon Wireless resetting my visual voicemail at least 7x's as well as resetting the passcode 3-4x's. Some messages came through but would not play, others never came through. It took at least 7 resets before I finally got all my messages that had not come through for five days. After a week, SAME problem continued! This time went to Verizon Wireless Supervisor (Tier 2), another hour resetting several more times, resetting passcode, etc. I also complained to Supervisor that wifi on the iP6+ was extremely slow and losing connection - even when I was standing over the router. It was suggested that I contact FiOS and have my router tested. That resulted in a router reset which didn't help, so FiOS sent me a new router. Another week went by with the visual voice problem continuing, still can't play the messages that come through and learned that some friends sent messages that I never received. New router did not help with the wifi issue and definitely did not change the visual voice problems. Sadly, two voice messages that were sent to me on Thanksgiving finally showed up on Saturday, Nov 29! Decided it was time to stop working with Verizon Wireless staff and move on to Apple. Did a CHAT with Apple, agent suggested I do a RESTORE. That did nothing but waste more of my time. I finally went to the Genius Bar. After Apple tested the wifi issue at the store and it didn't work, then witnessed the messages that wouldn't play, and finally it was proved that the voicemail Genius Bar left never showed up - Apple replaced the iPhone 6+ on the spot. It has only been one day, and I've had family and friends leave several messages in the last 24 hours to test - so far so good. The wifi is working great now. While the previous advice here is touting this as a Verizon problem and claiming you need to get to Verizon Tier 2 - my advice is GO TO THE GENIUS BAR. Apple staff are just better - period, end of story. In fact, I asked the Genius Bar agent this: "If I find I still have the visual voice problem with the new iP6+ replacement phone, should I contact Verizon Wireless or come back here." Her response was "COME HERE!" Good luck.

Hey guys,

I too just now had this problem with a Verizon iPhone 6+ and was able to get it resolved. I called Verizon customer service, you will have to talk to a Tier 2 tech. She had to reset my visual voicemail on the switch (I'm guessing that's their backend) and it worked. I didn't have to reset or power down my phone, and best of all I didn't lose any messages. It just worked.

Hope this helps someone,

I had Google Voice forwarding calls to my Iphone. Verizon visual voicemail did not work during initial iphone set-up. When I unchecked the forwarding button in Google Voice settings to my Iphone number, visual messages appeared on my Iphone. After that i clicked to forward calls from my Google voice to the iphone and all still works fine.

It seems to be an interference with Verzion network during initial Iphone set-up.

All of a sudden, since I downloaded 9.0 and 9.0.1 I am unable to get access to my visual voicemail. Verizon told me that the 9.0.1 would solve it. Well it did for about a day. Now it is back to saying Visual Voice mail is currently unavailable. Call voicemail. Wants my pw. I don't remember it. Don't even remember putting one in when I first got my iPhone 4s.

Have an app't with Apple tomorrow. Strange though, if I click on an old message, it shows it visually. Not any new ones.

Visual Voicemail is a carrier service. And if you don't remember your password it won't work. So you will have to either remember it or reset it. You can do that on Verizon's website, or by calling them. You can go to Apple, but they can't help you either without the password. All cellular voicemail systems require a password, so you must have created one, even if you don't remember doing so. The default is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number or of your SSN, but you will have to change it the first time you use it.

I just got an iphone 6s and have the same problem. I spent a lot of time talking with Verizon tech support and the problem is this: the iPhone 6 and 6s IOS do not support visual voicemail. Possibly at a later date Apple will have an update that addresses the issue but for now they put out their latest "high tech" device with a couple of low tech capabilities.

I upgraded from a 6+ to a 6s (some might say downgraded) on Verizon. The + was just a bit too much to handle, and I wanted the smaller phone. So I switched in the store, when I did my Visual Voicemail instead of showing the voicemails like before on the 6+, it was calling to the vm service, asking for a pin ect. Each VM was preceeded by a Text from the 900080006202 number which was completely unreadable.

I chatted with a Verizon Tech who made me power my phone down, reset the voicemail feature (she said that their is a certain one just for Iphones which in my case was not selected) I then powered my phone on and VM was working as it had before.

Verizon in the store tried to tell me it was an apple issue, so before you let them shoo you out the store or off the phone, tell them to reset password and make sure they set the Visual Voicemail to the Iphone one.

She didn't say iphone 6 or 5 ect ect, just that it was iphone.

Either way its at least another step for you all to try that worked for me. Hope this helps gang and good luck

This discussion was started a while ago, but I've read through the responses and none of them worked. I did find a solution, for anyone else who may need this info in the future.

For reference, I'm using an iPhone 6+ on iOS 10.1.1 with Verizon Wireless.

I tried the soft reset, reset network settings, change voicemail password, flipping wifi off, long-toggling airplane mode, dialing in special codes, and a few other things. Yet every time I would tap the voicemail button in the phone app, it would still dial voicemail instead of showing a visual voicemail.

The REAL problem? My voicemail box was full.

Solution: Go through the old school way of doing voicemail, and delete a few of them.

After I had cleared a few old, unnecessary messages and cleared up some voicemail space, I hung up. My visual voicemail returned to normal. So maybe it's a "feature" to actually get you to listen to your messages and weed out the riff-raff so you don't end up with a full inbox, unable to receive voicemails.
