5g Ipod won't update/restore with Itunes 7.0? I think I fixed it

OK. Had the problem when I would connect my ipod to itunes 7 it would restart back to its home screen and itunes would continue to say it was updating the software on it but it wasn't. I couldn't figure out how to update it but I did figure out how to restore it to the new 1.2 software.
What I did was

1. Made sure disc access was enabled
2. Went into "My Computer" and opened up the Ipod Drive there.
3. Renamed the "Ipod_Control" folder to "IPOD BACK UP"
4. Disconnected the IPOD
5. Stopped the Ipodhelper service
6. Reconnected the Ipod
7. Started Itunes
8. Itunes saw that it was in some mode I can't remember and told me I should update it.
9. Clicked update and it updated to the new 1.2 software.

Thats it. You will have to resync your ipod to your music but it worked for me. I hope this helps.

Apple computers should be ashamed of this. Especially after all of those "ease of use" commercials. I've had more problems with this piece of Apple hardware and Apple software than I ever did with microsoft stuff.

I Built it, Windows XP, Stuff is in it and it hums real purty like
