Sep 24, 2014 10:50 PM in response to Addevlinby woofmatix,From what I know, one option is to use "command T". But this will only split the track at the playhead/cursor. So you'll have to slice the track at the starting point and the ending point. I hope this is clear.

Oct 17, 2014 12:49 AM in response to woofmatixby timhatch39,In the previous version there was a "split track" - you could do that at two places isolating a section in between, hit delete and it was gone!
Can you still do this in 10.0.2? if not why the heck not?!?!?!

Oct 17, 2014 10:53 AM in response to timhatch39by iCrescendo, after you split a region with command T . click the region then use the menu edit. Delete and Move. then the middle will delete and the right handed regions will shift to the left

Aug 29, 2016 7:53 AM in response to iCrescendoby Jerry Dammers,I'm trying to delete the end of a track - how do I do it?
After "Cmd + T", nothing seems to happen (I'm a bit of a GarageBand novice)

Aug 29, 2016 8:25 AM in response to Jerry Dammersby léonie,Select the last region in the track, then enter ⌘T to split this region. Now select the right part of the split region and use the delete key to remove the cut off section.

Aug 29, 2016 8:40 AM in response to léonieby Jerry Dammers,I use Garage Band to mix playlists of, for example, 40 tracks.
My last track doesn't go as far as the end of the playlist, so I can't delete the end.
Not sure why the playlist continues for an extra 20 minutes after the end of the last track but I can't seem to delete it (but I could in a previous version of GarageBand).

There seems to be some major misunderstanding what about the concept of GarageBand. The Main Window does not represent a "Playlist". This is your Song or Project presented by the horizontal Timeline. That Timeline is as long as you record Regions on your Tracks. You could have a recorded Audio Region from bar 1 to bar 20, but your timeline could end at bar 100. It is like having a 100 page book where page 21 to 100 is blank.
So basically, you don't "delete the end", because there is nothing to delete. It doesn't matter when you bounce your mix, because you can restrict your bounce to the selected Region or the selected Cycle Range, instead of bounce the entire Song (with the empty bars)
If you want to get rid of the unused timeline area, you have to move the End Marker, that indicates the end of your Project to the left. The End Marker is that little triangle at the end of the Timeline Ruler. This is a little bit messed up, because that Marker is covered by the horizontal Zoom Slider. You have to aim with your mouse cursor a little bit above that slider and you will see the cursor change to the Trim Tool. Now click-drag to the left to move the End Marker.
Hope that helps

No major misunderstanding. My objective is to mix and record a playlist as a single file. Having tried each of the most popular DJ mixing app's, GarageBand provides the best functionality. Not seemingly what it was designed for but, unexpectedly, the best solution - unless you can suggest a better alternative?
So basically, you don't "delete the end", because there is nothing to delete.
In most playlists I mix (approx 2 hrs) there is about 20 minutes of dead time at the end. Don't know why, but it is there - it's not "nothing". When I save the playlist to iTunes, the 20 minutes dead time remains so it needs to be deleted otherwise my file is unnecessarily 20 minutes longer. Your advice on the end marker worked so thank you.

Aug 29, 2016 10:44 PM in response to Jerry Dammersby léonie,Sometimes the end marker is very hard to see or to move as mentioned by Edgar, because it may be occluded by the zoom slider.
I prefer to zoom out, until this marker can be grabbed instead of trying to click-drag the hidden beast.
Before zooming out - the marker is nearly hidden and hard to grab:
After zooming:
I prefer to use the cycle range , that Edgar also mentioned in his reply. It is easy to drag the yellow cycle baracross all regions I want to bounce.
All methods mentioned to restrict the length of your arrangement may still add a few seconds of silence to allow for the reverb to fade out gracefully. The only method I know, that will respect the selected duration exactly is adding the selected regions as a loop to the loop browser.
