Aug 20, 2016 7:41 AM in response to kevmcsby pfromhaines,Same problem here with a few more twists. Either way Finder was essentially not functional. I shut down Google Drive and all was well without a restart.

Aug 20, 2016 8:48 AM in response to Eric Rootby guixiu,Thank you! I've tried many solutions suggested in various threads about Finder problems in 10.9.5, but this is the only one that worked for me. I disconnected Google Drive so that it doesn't launch at startup, and all is well. Whew.

Aug 20, 2016 3:21 PM in response to guixiuby ktshastsa,We were able to simply solve our problems by unchecking the "Show file sync status icons and right click menu" in the GD preferences, and rebooting. We can still access the GD just fine. It's essential for me.

Aug 20, 2016 6:36 PM in response to kevmcsby carramar30,For anyone else reading this thread ... an old bug seems to have reappeared ...
Work around if you need to keep using Google Drive is to disable a preference - see this article ...

Aug 25, 2016 3:31 PM in response to kevmcsby FatMixG,I had this problem just arise in the past 2 weeks. The only solution is temporary, and its to relaunch finder. The finder window displays whatever is underneath and doesn't show the files at all. Unless I relaunch finder in which case it seems to work until I try to change directories or the display.

Aug 25, 2016 4:45 PM in response to FatMixGby carramar30,If you use Google drive either quit the app and delete if from your system, or unset the preference as described here
https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-google-drive-crashing-finder-in-mavericks/
Unset of the preference is only a temporary fix until Google hopefully fixes this ...

Aug 25, 2016 5:35 PM in response to carramar30by ktshastsa,Unsetting that preference may be temporary, but so far we've had no problems with it. I'm afraid if Google "fixes" it - another problem will arise...sigh...
