Iphone 6 iOs8 - Bluetooth Issue - Vehicle - Solved
iPhone 6 64GB ios8 - 2013 Mazda 3
I've followed the multitude of threads closely regarding bluetooth issues, various vehicles, and suggested fixes and have tried all suggestions.
- Reset Network settings - Tried - unsuccessful
- Reset All settings - Tried - unsuccessful
with both the above unpaired iPhone and vehicle and repaired the two
- Reset (HOME button and POWER on/off button)- Tried - unsuccessful
Yesterday after the unfortunate ios 8.01 update I followed the threads (slow workday) and someone mentioned they had to erase all data and setup their iPhone as new and their Bluetooth worked whereas previously it didn't. Reluctantly I decided to try this - The phones not even a week old so it wasn't too bad. I noticed Pages, Keynotes and a few others weren't on by default whereas when I got the phone they were but no worries.
Once erased and re-setup (as new. Not from iCloud restore BUT I did re-sign into iCloud) I setup bluetooth in my vehicle and tested. No disconnects and pairing worked fine. Calls and music streaming with no disconnects and steering controls worked as they did on my iPhone 5 ios7
Downloaded apps, setup WiFi and went and tested the bluetooth again. Still working.
Powered iPhone down for the night and tried again this morning. Still working.
One caveat: I haven't connected the iPhone to my laptop (iTunes) so I cannot verify it'll work after that. I hope so. If it does then I'll rename my phone (I hate the name it defaults to) and hope it still works.
I hope someone else who is having issue tries this and it works for them as well. Little did I realize until it broke how heavily reliant I am on this and judging by the numerous threads as are other people. Good luck 🙂
