    If you are using IE as your browser it will be a zip file. Either download it and unzip it to find the IPSW contained inside or use Firefox or Chrome as your browser to download it.

    Apparently IE does change the compressed zip file extension to .zip  The zip file must be renamed to .ipsw   File browser was also hiding file extensions so the whole process was more difficult than a simple download.

    Yeah they assume everyone is using a MAC/Safari to download.  Not sure why IE wants to do that as Chrome or Firefox works correctly. They need to make a note to that regard in the KB article.  I have unzipped the file in the past and just extracted the ispw inside. Never renamed it though so good tip.
