Titanium PowerBook won't boot

I recently dug up my old Titanium PowerBook (Mercury, 500 MHz, with 512 MB of ram). It is in decent shape, except for a cracked hinge. After I plugged it in and charged it up (The battery holds a charge!), it wouldn't turn on. The only sign of life is the Caps Lock and Num Lock lights light up green when pressed. I ordered a new PRAM battery and put it in, but I am still getting the same symptoms. I know it is not a very useful laptop, and I don't have any data on it (the hard drive is blank, the old one died and I replaced it), but want it to work for old games and software that won't run on Sheepshaver. I'd appreciate any advice.

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Sounds like the poor Titan PB is still in a mild coma...

Does it boot into FW Target Disk Mode, where use of

FireWire cable could be used to backcheck the HDD?

•How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode

Too, there is a slight chance this reset may stir some life into it:

•Resetting PowerBook and iBook Power Management Unit (PMU)

Not sure what else to check. I have a later model aluminum PB 12"

that has several issues, it was gifted to me and wasn't working. So

a matter of troubleshooting, which I did, led me to consider a pro

repair service. Years ago, I'd used wegenermedia for a hardware

repair to a 2001 iBook G3 white 500MHz 12" & it was so happy.

So, however badly you want to wake it up, there may be a few extra

motions involved. Sadly, an infusion of caffeine via keyboard won't.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
