Oct 9, 2014 11:43 PM in response to hawthornejmby janvdc, nnot a final solution, but when I switch off location services - and the. Switch them back on - cellulair network is back. For a while.
No need to reboot.
It doesn't fix the problem but it's a quick workaround to keep going when you're on the road and you need instant access.

Oct 10, 2014 1:03 AM in response to hawthornejmby robvw001,I have the same problem, have to reboot when i lose signal. Have upgraded to 8.02 and it doesn't fix the problem. Have logged the problem a few days ago but no response from Apple. This must be the worst release of new operating system to date, Ipad is sluggish, slow i think a lump of coal will work better

Oct 10, 2014 5:12 AM in response to tictock47by BassmikeC,I Think it has something to do with the iCloud. I didn't sign on for the upgrade that came with the IOS 8.02 initially. Had "no service" constantly when the iPad 2 goes to sleep.
AFter signing on to the iCloud up grade in iCloud settings the problem has gone away.
leaving a disgruntled user who doesn't really want to use the iCloud for security reasons

Oct 10, 2014 12:02 PM in response to robvw001by Sharon Kim,The only thing that worked for me was to reboot my Ipad so I set up a support call with Apple and this is what they had me do:
Go to SETTINGS - GENERAL - RESET - RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.
This forced a reboot and when it came back my AT&T was restored as well as my cellular data number ( which can be found in SETTINGS - GENERAL - ABOUT) I had noticed that after I did the 8.02 upgrade my cellular data number had changed to "unavailable".
Warning - you will have to reenter your Wireless Router Password and probably a few other things. Obviously there was a conflict between my IPhone (4S model) and my IPad because when I reset the Network Settings on my Ipad I lost the wireless on my Iphone as well and had to reenter the Wireless Router Password on that device as well. So far so good.

Oct 10, 2014 6:14 PM in response to Sharon Kimby iedgome,AAll this resetting everyones doing will not fix the fact the apple rolled out the worst IOS system. it has made my perfect working iPad 2 for last 3 years into an unuseable piece of glass and aluminum. I am so aggregated with APPLE who seems to have no response to a crapp 8.02 update . APPLE PLEASE FIX IOS 8.02 !!'!!!!!!!! We need a fix it is not fair to pay over for 600 buck for a 3G iPad and I cannot even use it now due to your incompetence of some software engineers that didn't test it properly.
its all over the Internet everyone has problems
i Have soft reset , hard reset and all the problems are still there, me iPad freezes in some apps, I cannot use safari as it freezes and most of all I am paying for 3 g service that I cannot use and have to reset my iPad to get it to work for a few hours at most.
APPLE WHERE ARE YOU?!

Oct 10, 2014 11:57 PM in response to iedgomeby K-in-Berlin,I also tried the Network reset option yesterday evening but this morning when I woke up my iPad 2 I saw the dreaded No Service where I should have seen 3G. Sigh. My iPad 2 has also given flawless service for the last 2.5 years but is now just unreliable. I am going to talk to my cellular service provider as I am also paying for cellular service my device can no longer reliably maintain.

Oct 11, 2014 4:39 AM in response to iedgomeby Sharon Kim,You are right. This morning it was back to NO SERVICE and my cellular data number was missing. Not a fix and so frustrated.

Oct 11, 2014 8:03 AM in response to hawthornejmby Akirkby ,I'd like to try and find contact details for Apple so I can forward them my monthly data contract bills - because of their update I can no longer use the data service I am paying for.
What are you doing about this Apple? What about some form of formal recognition of the problem and a statement about what you are doing about it?
-
Oct 11, 2014 8:39 AM in response to hawthornejmby Akirkby ,I've created a Facebook group if you would like to join and discuss the IOS 8 issues. Lets see how many people are seeing these problems and see if Apple will take notice.

Oct 11, 2014 10:03 AM in response to Akirkbyby captscottso,I like the FaceBook Page idea - I'm not a FaceBook user so I'm sorry to say you won't see me there. It was mentioned earlier that we should demand financial consideration from our Data Providers - that's a great idea. If AT&T, Verizon, etc started to get some heat from us maybe they would in turn beat up on Apple on our behalf.
The latest I've had from Apple was to replace my SIM card - I'm still waiting for it to arrive from AT&T.
As I mentioned in my first post to this thread - I can restore my Data Connection by toggling in and out of the iCloud Drive Menu and/or iCloud Drive on / off button. But the fix is short lived - it will eventually fail and I will be without a Cell Data connection. This is getting more urgent for me as I start a heavy travel schedule in about 10 days - I need Cell Data for this.
If the new SIM card doesn't work for me I will beat up on AT&T to pressure Apple.
It is definitely an iOS8 issue as my iPad2 worked flawlessly until I updated. What a mistake I made. I have yet to update my iPhone5 until my iPad problems go away.

Oct 11, 2014 10:27 AM in response to BassmikeCby BassmikeC,24 hours later.....
Same problem.
Why isn't Apple making a comment?
don't forget to log a service issue with Apple service. Get a ticket raised - eventually they will have to respond to the shear number of tickets. Think about raising a ticket complaining about the lack of response to the earlier ticket.

Oct 11, 2014 10:28 AM in response to twherryby Fraggel81,Testing iOS 8.1 beta 2 for two days now. Until now, the problem seems to have disappeared.

Oct 12, 2014 7:41 AM in response to Fraggel81by jk10003,Same problem.
iPad 2, ATT GSM, iOS 8.02. Never installed iCloud Drive because of Mac incompatibility. I lose cellular data every day and a hard reset brings it back. Apple support suggested also network reset or maybe backup, full reset, restore. They were reluctant to acknowledge that others had the problem and said they did not know of an 8.1 upgrade!
iOS also seems to have impacted performance and fouled up navigation. I greatly regret not having backed up before the upgrade, so that I might go back to 7.
I can only hope that the problem is so pervasive that Apple will have to fix it.

Oct 12, 2014 8:27 AM in response to jk10003by LordBrixton,I think I might have resolved this. I restored my iPad to factory condition. Re-added my Mail, Twitter, iCloud & Facebook accounts. Seems to be holding 3G for days at a time, but tearing through my service provider's data allowance like crazy. About 5gb a day. I think that's probably a backup setting that I need to fix. If I can solve that, maybe we have a fix.
