Oct 12, 2014 4:00 PM in response to hawthornejmby ITGuyIT,Same problem here. I just upgraded my iPad 2 AT&T from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8.0.2 and now I'm living with the NO SERVICE message and having to reboot my iPad many times a day.
Apple fixed the iOS 8.0.1 NO SERVICE issue for iPhone 6 users in under 24 hours and yet we iPad 2 users are left high and dry. They want us to buy the iPad Air 2 in a few weeks. No chance of that happening on this end and the longer this drags out, none of the family will be getting any new Apple products any time soon.
Apple should allow you to downgrade your device within a week of upgrading major version number, i.e., iOS 7 to iOS 8.

Oct 12, 2014 4:20 PM in response to hawthornejmby tictock47,I tried the settings - language/region tact and have not had a No Service in two days. First I did a change to my language, it did a search and was ok. I then switched back to my language and was ok for a day. I then did a change of region, then back to my region and has been ok since. we'll see!!!

Oct 12, 2014 4:30 PM in response to Sharon Kimby SherryTeach,Apple had me reset my network settings as well. That fix lasted for about 3 hours. Now I'm back to rebooting every time the "no service" message pops up.

Oct 12, 2014 11:07 PM in response to jordi65by Rob Butler, this works for me, at least some of the time. Going settings --> iCloud is a lot quicker than a reboot!

Oct 13, 2014 12:16 PM in response to hawthornejmby melissalynnfl,Same iPad, Same Carrier, Same Problem! Frustrating!!! I'm starting to HATE Apple!!! I went to the store and was told that I may have an antenna problem - which is not covered by warranty, of course, because I bought it two years ago. Really?!? After reading these posts, I think they were feeding me a bunch of bull. Please fix this problem!!!

Oct 13, 2014 3:43 PM in response to janvdcby gdpetrie,iOS8 on an iPad2 is not fit for purpose.
The 3G issues are only ever temporarily resolved by any of the reset options mentioned in this thread, & as I have a 3G iPad so I can continue to work when there is not a WiFi signal, the issues with iOS8 causing loss of 3G service means it cannot be relied upon.
That combined with the general sluggish performance, crashing or hanging apps (Apple supplied ones, not just 3rd party) means what was an essential business tool has now been turned into an unreliable toy.
iOS7 at least worked reasonably well on the iPad2 (although I agree with janvdc, iOS6 worked even better). If there is not going to be an acknowledgement (unlikely) or quick fix, then surely there should be the option to at least restore to iOS7 so that customers can use their devices the way they had been before this "upgrade".

Oct 13, 2014 4:04 PM in response to hawthornejmby Dkstal,Same problem in NZ , no network connection what so ever did an iOS update 8.0.2 no joy what so ever , think I might need to migrate to andriod or blackberry , if this is apples so called new improved iOS it's starting to feel like a downgrade , Apple expectations have gone down to a new low .

Oct 13, 2014 4:57 PM in response to Dkstalby NgateaBob,I had the same problem, but fixed it last night. I backed up using iTunes, did a complete reset, all settings, all data, deleted everything, and registered as new iPad. Then restored from iTunes.
It worked, I have had 3G service for the last 24 hours.
The restore didn't work perfectly, some photos disappeared, as did some apps, but the photos were backed up, and when I downloaded the missing apps they came back with usernames and settings intact.
So, all is good with it now. My iPad (2 32Gb GSM) is now faster, about the same as with IOS 7.

Oct 13, 2014 5:40 PM in response to NgateaBobby jk10003,Good news! Don't mean to be cynical, but could you check in in a day or two to confirm that it is still working? Thanks.

Oct 13, 2014 7:17 PM in response to hawthornejmby Pam212,I also continue to have recurring problems with my IPAD2 with AT&T service since I upgraded to IOS 8.0.2. I'll show cellular service then for no apparent reason, it goes to No Service. The only way to regain cellular service is to turn the iPad off, then back on. That is NOT a satisfactory fix since it's inconvenient, time consuming, and battery intensive. (Is it a ploy to make me buy a new iPad after 16 Oct?)

Oct 13, 2014 8:44 PM in response to Pam212by SherryTeach,AAfter the No Service message pops up, I have been able to get it back by going to settings and tapping on iCloud. That does save me from the necessity of restarting several times a day. Still very annoying.

Oct 13, 2014 9:08 PM in response to SherryTeachby jk10003,I also found that, after losing Cell Data, that going to Settings and just entering ICloud brings cell data back. Of course it is not a solution, but it is an easier, faster workaround than a hard reset!

Oct 14, 2014 12:03 AM in response to jk10003by K-in-Berlin,I discovered that going to settings and changing the region to anything else causes the iPad to search and regain cellular service without restarting. As soon as service is back, change the region back to where you are located and this fix holds until the iPad looses 3G again. that can be anywhere from a few hours to a day. The sluggish performance is still there though. Also Safari crashes, etc etc.

Oct 14, 2014 7:47 AM in response to hawthornejmby the_ojibway,Having the same problem and reading the responses, until there is a permanent solution it looks like changing the region until service is restored and the back to your respesctive region is the fastest method to regain service signal.
