Oct 16, 2014 1:19 PM in response to hawthornejmby tictock47,I Checked out the article on ios8.2 but no reference to our problem. Sure hope Apple has addressed it. I have found a relatively way to restore cellular, I go to Settings-General-Language/Region select a different region, hit back, it starts search for cellular, go back and re select your region. Takes about 30 seconds and you are back on line. I sure hope they put out the fix next week because having to do anything other than turning on your iPad is unacceptable.

Oct 16, 2014 2:05 PM in response to jmca810by normr1,iOS 8 has messed up my iPad 2, I now do not have cellular service after the upgrade and when I power it down, it no longer will power up when I push the power button, I have to perform a hard reset to get it to start up after that cellular service is available, but disapears after it goes to sleep and I wake it up, I have even restored it and set it up as a completely new iPad, nothing has been restored from any backup and all apps were redownloaded as new.
Apple needs to put iOS 7 back up and let us go back, they didnt fully examine how iOS 8 work affect older models.

Oct 17, 2014 5:51 PM in response to captscottsoby normr1,Another issue I am having and I wonder if anyone else is having it also is that I am unable to turn my iPad 2 back on with the power button after shutting it dow, I have to perform a hard reset to get it to turn back on, and another thing that just happened this afternoon was this, my iPad was asleep and I received a message notification on the screen, I pressed my home button to wake it up and the screen immediately went black and it would not turn back on, so I attempted a hard reset and when the Apple logo appeared, it started flashing on and off and just blinking and it wouldnt finish booting up, just a blinking apple logo like there is a hardware failure, nothing would work, I was afraid 8.02 damaged my iPad so I performed a DFU RESET and restored my ipad again. Luckily it has come back and again I set it up as a new ipad, has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping 8.1 fixes this.

Oct 18, 2014 7:27 AM in response to hawthornejmby pr sioux falls,Have a fix for the 3G issue with iPad 2 after the 8.* update (and probably any other device since it is a fix based on logic and not Voodoo)…. SOLUTION!
1. Have to have a back-up on iTunes.
2. Disconnect iPad from computer. On iPad erase all content and settings: Settings>General>Reset>erase all content and settings
3. Reconnect to computer when iPad restarts
4. Restore from good back-up
5. Voila - Problem fixed!!
I had literally tried everything else to no avail. At one point I think I danced naked around a fire. Many thanks to Erik - one of the Chief Troubleshooters at Apple. He was stumped too and since I had tried everything else he had me try this. He said sometimes old settings can get sort of "hung up". Whatever the case it is fixed and I am going to move on with my life. I hope this helps all of you! And he was sharing the info with those that need to make a patch.

Oct 18, 2014 1:08 PM in response to pr sioux fallsby normr1,I think the problem will show back up on your iPad in a few hours, just like mine, I restored it and even set it up as a new iPad and didn't bring back anything from a previous backup and the problem showed back up a couple hours later when I woke it up from sleep, NO ATT SERVICE

Oct 18, 2014 2:41 PM in response to normr1by pr sioux falls,Restoring and even setting up as a new iPad does NOT work and I tried that before the eventual solution posted above. The key is the "erase all content and settings" before restoring. Sounds like some folks have had success with the various methods for a while and then lose 3g again…so we will see. Almost 24 h and still up and running.

Oct 18, 2014 5:02 PM in response to pr sioux fallsby ferrijl,The ONLY thing that will fix the problem with iPad 2 no service issue (att only) is to take your iPad Into an att store and ask them to change your sim card, the fault lies with att and they cannot charge you, I have had to do this twice... The latest time was right after the current update. If you don't change the sim you will be reseting your iPad constantly.

Oct 18, 2014 7:05 PM in response to ferrijlby artysan,The problem has nothing to do with the SIM card so don't waste your time with that. In fact there are no fixes that will work permanently. It is a software issue that Apple needs to resolve. I don't know what the problem is but I know that all solutions being touted as "the fix" are temporary, so pick your poison and do it over and over until Apple resolves it.

Oct 18, 2014 7:14 PM in response to artysanby Lost4,Exactly right, this is down to Apple fixing the software.

Oct 18, 2014 8:01 PM in response to hawthornejmby Biznez67 ,Same problem for my IPad 2 with IOS 8. Went through all of the various "fixes" further down the thread. The problem is only resolved temporarily.
IOS 8 is garbage.
Is that you Microsoft?
