Oct 19, 2014 4:22 AM in response to Lost4by artysan,I travel a lot, like daily, and I've noticed I lose my cellular connection every time I leave one wifi location for another. Might be the bug? Actually llike a lot about ios8 and look forward to a fix this week with 8.1.

Oct 20, 2014 12:13 PM in response to hawthornejmby jws39,I just got my Ipad 2 to work on verizon. After trying everything including restore with Itunes. I finally decided to reset and clear all data. Once it rebooted fresh I went thru the menus and didn't select anything. I skipped the network and used my bluetooth to connect to wifi off of my Iphone. I pretty sure Wifi wouldn't make any difference.
Once it came up I went into settings and cellular. turned it on and waited for verification. Gave it a little time and it came online. Took about 3 minutes to connect. Once connected I then signed into Itunes. I didn't use a back up file. I may try that once I get infront of my computer. I have just about all of it back signing back to Icloud. I just don't have the apps. I can always download those.
I hope this will help someone else.

Oct 20, 2014 12:45 PM in response to jk10003by pr sioux falls,Solution below still working going on 72 h. The ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS is the key. People think this is the same as a network reset or factory reset but it is not. I had tried both of those (and many other "solutions") and they did not work.
Have a fix for the 3G issue with iPad 2 after the 8.* update (and probably any other device since it is a fix based on logic and not Voodoo)…. SOLUTION!
1. Have to have a back-up on iTunes.
2. Disconnect iPad from computer. On iPad erase all content and settings: Settings>General>Reset>erase all content and settings
3. Reconnect to computer when iPad restarts
4. Restore from good back-up
5. Voila - Problem fixed!!
I had literally tried everything else to no avail. At one point I think I danced naked around a fire. Many thanks to Erik - one of the Chief Troubleshooters at Apple. He was stumped too and since I had tried everything else he had me try this. He said sometimes old settings can get sort of "hung up". Whatever the case it is fixed and I am going to move on with my life. I hope this helps all of you! And he was sharing the info with those that need to make a patch.

Oct 20, 2014 3:26 PM in response to hawthornejmby tictock47,HHas anyone seen or used the 8.1 update that was supposed to be released today? If so, did it work?

Oct 20, 2014 3:32 PM in response to tictock47by Lost4,Early days yet but so far so good for me in Australia. And seems to have fixed the wifi backup to iTunes problem I was having. But, as I said, early days and time will tell but at this stage looks OK. Also nifty (if you have an iPhone on iOS 8) being able to send/receive texts to or from any phone, not just iPhones, on both iPad and iMac.

Oct 22, 2014 1:21 PM in response to jk10003by jmca810,Installed 8.1 24 hours ago. Looks like they fixed the problem. No loss of service,,yet! It sure would have been nice for Apple to have acknowledged the problem and let people know they were working on a fix. A lot of needless aggravation.

Oct 22, 2014 2:14 PM in response to jmca810by artysan,@jmca810-- yes, 8.1 seems to have solved it. I travel daily between two locations which ALWAYS caused a loss of service. Today, no problem. Bravo Apple. And thanks for letting us know about the issue Oh, wait... I don't quite get the total silence. I fail to see how a fairly noncommittal mention on the Apple support site that problems concerning cellular use for iPad 2 users was being worked on and suggested workarounds could be a worse way of handling this than total silence. Would that be a legal problem? How so? Just a suggestion to you guys at Apple. I knew for certain you would solve it. But a lot of unnecessary gnashing of teeth could have been avoided.

Oct 22, 2014 6:43 PM in response to artysanby captscottso,It's been over 24 hours after a difficult upgrade to 8.1. It wouldn't work over the air (had an Update Requested notice on iPad) but it did work via iTunes.
No drop in Cellular Data but I am unable to install or update apps - Either over the air of via iTunes. Tomorrow I will call my senior tech at Apple to see why.
I am also upset that this update didn't mention this problem at all. Thanks Apple.
